When the TV shuts itself down, the standby light should be blinking a repeated count with a short two second pause between the counts. Please post that count here. That is a diagnostic code that will indicate the circuit which caused the protection circuit to shut down the TV. Armed with that info, we can determine whether or not it is a simple fix.

Yes, its time for new tv when existing tv start giving such problems, buy new tv and get rid of old one for peace of mind tv viewing.
Fixing six years old tv is waste of money and it is not user level repair. TV repair shop will charge much more than tv worth. Suppose you got it repaired but there is no guarantee that tv will not become defective in near future, We, Experienced TV Techs always count depreciation while advising to our customer.
So I'm not sure why my fellow expert that is actually very good printer fixing expert providing incorrect advise for tv and misguiding an innocent user to waste his hard earned money on 6 years old tv.
Repair bill amount plus little more money could buy new tv that would be equipped with all latest technologies.
I strongly recommend to reject other expert advise that could give you $200 plus loss.
Thanks.
