You need to start up in osx safe mode, and delete the application.
To start up into Safe Mode (to Safe Boot), do this:

  1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
  2. Press the power button.
  3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
  4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
It takes quite a while to start up.

My Honeywell RTH230B flashes a snowflake them the fan shuts off and

Hello, the snowflake flashing is a (supposed to be) 5 minute delay to prevent short cycling of the compressor. This delay can sometimes get stuck thus requiring replacement. To test , remove top of thermostat to where you can identify wires and terminals. Have someone stand near the ac unit for this test, and then take a wire or paperclip and briefly touch Rc to Y. This should start the outdoor unit. R to G will start the indoor fan

What does the snowflake mean on a Honeywell thermostat in cooling mode. Also had the problem in the heating mode.

The snowflake means it's cooling. If the outdoor unit is not running then the problem is likely outside.

Air conditioning not working. Have White-Rodgers thermostat 1F79111, I think. Replaced batteries. Now have flashing signal like an asterisk. What does it mean?

Blinking snowflake means it's on time delay for cooling to come on (usually 5 minute time delay to prevent compressor short cycling). Solid snowflake means cooling is on

Flashing snowflake

The flashing snowflake means it is in the cooling mode, but is waiting for itself to 'time out' after a call for cooling. It should be about a 5 minute delay then should come on automatically. At that poing, the flashing snowflake becomes steady.

Try it one more time and set the timer on your smart-phone to ten minutes before you touch it again. If that time elapses and no cooling and it is still flashing there's possibly a problem in the thermostat that will necissitate replacement.
