Trying to download pictures from my camera card to my thinkpad

Save the pictures and videos on the card. Try reformatting the card in the computer, and then again using the camera. The first reformat will ensure the card is empty, and then the camera reformat will ensure that it is recognized by the camera. If the camera reformat will not work, try a new card.

Your camera card may becoming corrupted. You could try using a separate card reader to try to download your pics or take them to Walmart and use the Kodak Picture Maker to print them or make a CD of them. Once they're downloaded, format the card in the camera for a fresh start.

Here is what you can try.
Don't use the camera for downloading the pictures.
Buy a card reader.. prices vary from a few $$ on Ebay (for instance) to maybe near $20.00 for the best kinds.Also many printers now come with the card readers built in. Use the card reader for downloading the pictures from your card from your camera. Since I repair a number of kinds of cameras, I use a card reader...no software needed, no drivers.
Download the pictures in a folder (preferably on C, or another drive in it's own folder, not in my documents) and then use a program to view, edit or save to cd or DVD.
A nice thing about a card reader is that with most newer operating systems the card reader will be detected as a mass storage device.

Try to use a card reader instead. They are only a few dollars. I use one all the time, and hardly ever will use the camera on different models I have.
Never delete from the PC to the camera. It can cause corruption. Once corrupted, you may lose all pictures on the card.
Always delete from the camera, unless you will format the card anyway.
Use the camera and try to delete the bad picture from the camera. this may fix the problem, if not, try to read from another camera or a card reader...don't ever delete from another camera or the card reader.

The last is not good, and that means to format the card, and you will lose all which is on the card.
You may try to copy to internal memory.

One more thing... take out the card. reset all in the camera menu. Then reset all the things you like. Put the card in and try to read each picture in play mode only. If one picture is very slow, delete it. This may take some time as corrupted files may read slowly. then try again.
