Uniden DECT 6.0 Cordless Telephone Expansion Handset Logo

Searching.... I set up the three phones that make up the Model 28112 Series. Everything was working fine. Now, one of the phones will not work. The message on the screen is Searching...... or it says Out of Range. I have switched the hand sets and the other hand sets work fine. I have unplugged the unit and pretended to reinstall the system. I have referred to the user's Guide. Please help.

Just one of the handsets will not work. I have plugged it in in the same room and the handset reads OUT OF RANGE or SEARCHING....

Even when the handset is on the main cradle it will not work.

I went to answer the phone and one hand set gave a message "searching" and then quit working. This is the Uniden D3280 Series that has stopped working

The problem of searching.....

After trying all the technician's suggestions had failed; I disconnected the base to return it to the store for replacement. Then I decided to try disconnecting and reconnecting power and phone line, placed handset back on base and the phone reset itself and is working fine...

Recap:

Disconnect power and phone line from base for about 30 seconds and reconnect both power and phone line to base and place handset back on base; it should reset...

Cannot stop Searching message flashing on screen

I emailed [email protected] and within two or three hours got a helpful email suggesting the following:

In the first instance please try disconnecting the power to the base station and removing the batteries from the handset for 15 minutes or so. Then reconnect everything and check if this has resolved the fault. This will re-synchonise the handsets to the base station.

The problem is now resolved.

Thanks.

GE MODEL 28112 DECT 6.0 CORDLESS PHONE

I contacted GE today and they told me how to get the caller ID to work on the additional handsets. You must follow these steps in the exact order given.

#1 - unplug the base phone
#2 - unplug the telephone line from the base phone
#3 - remove the battery packs from the phones
#4 - wait 10 minutes.

reverse the order when assembling. Put battery packs in phones, put the telephone line back in the base phone and lastly plug all phones back in. It takes about another 10 minutes after that before all phones start recognizing caller ID but it now works fine.

Registration

I'm not sure from your description exactly what your problem is, but I have the 28112, and it has a handset menu command for registration, and one for deregistration. If this sounds similar to yours, I'd suggest trying the registration command. If that fails, try deregistering, and then try to register again. I've also heard that these units somehow reset after 20 seconds in the recharge cradle, but I haven't seen that actually appear to work.

If you have problems getting the menu command to work, write back with more info and I'll see if I can figure it out based on what my phone does.

GE dECT 6.0 Cordless Model 28112 Series

On the base is a button next to the GE logo that says "Do Not Disturb". Pushing that button will enable and disable that feature

This does not sound good. If you have one working phone and you have swapped batteries around and still the same single phone works.... you know it's not the base unit, charger stands, power supplies or batteries. You have eliminated everything but the phone itself. Unfortunatley these low end cordless phones cannot be expected to last. 6 months is pretty bad but I'm not surprized. These sell for $30 each new and I bet a replacement battery is $20.
