Downdraft my downdraft fan will not turn off. my range is two years old and looks slightly different than the JDS8850(black control knobs instead of stainless steel) There is a button on the left side(where the grill element plugs in) and if you push it in, the fan will turn off, take your finger off the button, though, and the fan turns back on. Obviously, the on /off switch on the front right side of the range is in the off position, but the fan continues to blow

Have basically the same problem (Model JDS9865BDP dual fuel).  Downdraft blower will not turn off - Electonic Digital Display says BLOWER HI.  Pressing the blower button (at the front of the burner recess area) will turn the blower off, when you release the button the blower comes back on.  Heard a loud electrical "snap" noise when the problem ocurred.  Unplugging the downdraft motor at the motor stops the motor.  After reviewing the electrical schematic it looks like the problem is either the burner control switch/valve, or the electronic control module/digital display.  Our oven is about 20 months old.

ja_question.gif Why are the oven indicator lights flashing? Answer: When power is first supplied to the appliance, a flashing time will appear on the display.
If a flashing time appears at any other time, a power failure has occurred. Press Cancel, and reset the clock if needed.
When the oven is not in use, the display shows the time of day.
If the indicator lights keep flashing after you have tried to reset the controls, then you may need to contact service person.

SOURCE: Don't know if the oven part of range is gas or electric

The model number can usually be found just inside the door or drawer (on the range itself).

All the Jenn-Air convection ovens I'm familiar with are electric even if the cook top is gas.

SOURCE: Infinite switch sparking!!!!

You have a short somewhere between the switch and the burner connector. Probably a wire's insulation has worn away or melted and is allowing the wire to contact the metal housing somewhere. You will see arc marks wherever the short is located. Look carefully where the wire passes through any holes or where sharp turns are encountered.

SOURCE: Stainless Steel Range Tops.

The only way to clean it is with steel wool. I use 2 different grades, but finish with a fine grit-0000. You still can't get it completely clean, no matter what you do. Forget it looking new. It's not real stainless steel if it's model FEF455BBA. I won't EVER buy this sort of top again either. I have had numerous problems with it, including since it conducts heat and doesn't shield wiring from the heat generated by the eyes, it is constantly melting out the plug-in elements for the eyes. I am surprised it hasn't been recalled. I am surprised more people haven't had fires!

Jennaire gas range, down draft fan jds9865bdp

The Jenn-Air JDS9865BDP is a gas range with a downdraft ventilation system. The downdraft fan pulls smoke and cooking odors down and out of the kitchen, eliminating the need for a hood and providing a sleek, integrated look in the kitchen.

Whirlpool SC8720EDB cooktop stove independent vent switch is not starting downdraft exhaust fan, but the exhaust fan works fine when left side burners were turned on

Can you get to the switch terminals and try jumping them out with a piece of insulated wire? That would tell you if the switch is defective (my suspicion). Please be careful not to touch any live terminals - only the wire insulation you use for the jumper.

I have 2 Hunter ceiling fans and the wall switch has 2 knobs which you push to click on or off.......after you click on...you can turn the knob and increase or decrease the fan speed. You can click on both...

Hello .. you should be able to find a replacement for your fan control at any building supply store, a home depot type store. Look or ask for a variable speed fan control. This is slightly different from a normal liight dimmer . You might also look for a replacement knob before replacing the whole switch, or matbe getting a replacement just to replace the knob ..

We have an electric Kenmore Classic Grille w/downdraft vents and the F1 alarm goes off routinely. It is about 16 years old and otherwise works fine.

Your control module is overheating because of the oven just below it. Be sure to use the exhaust fan every time you turn on the oven, which helps to cool the controls.
