I want to download video from you tube, i have youtube downloader, how to activate this? what is codec?

Your computer may miss the codec, download and install K-lite codec pack may fix the problem. K-lite codec pack is free and safe, and it includes almost all video codec and audio codec.

If this is the first time that you are trying to do this, this is most probably an issue with the video codec. If you are using windows media player to play the you tube downloaded video you download and install video code.

Ok, please note that the videos downloaded directly from the internet may not work properly on the player. You have to first convert them into a format that is suitable to the player using Philips media converter.

Download the Philips Media Converter software. Make sure corresponding Codec for playing videos is installed before downloading. The codecs are required to play videos on your player. To download Codec, you can:

1. Go to www.download.com/windows
2. Search for "directshow codec pack"
3. Download and install one of the codec packs from the list of results

Now to download video, connect your player to the PC and click the icon "Internet video downloader" at your desktop.

Open the youtube site. Move the cursor over the video you want to download until you see the Download icon. Double click on the icon to enable download.

After downloading, the Media Converter for Philips will then start to convert the video to the format that suits your player. If your player is connected to the PC, the video will be transferred to the player automatically.

It seems like a problem with video codecs.
Use VideoLan to play the Youtube video you downloaded.

Method 1:
1. Install the K-Lite codec pack:

2. Then run the "Codec Tweak Tool" from
3. Start > Programs > K-Lite Codec Pack > Configuration > Codec Tweak Tool
4. Then check the box next to [Registry] Fix non-working system sound

close your internet explorer if you are using Internet explorer as your browser locate thid directory

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files

delete all files you can see in this directory.
Open your internet browser, the youtube website recommends you again to install the flash player active x, follow the instruction and install it. after the installation, your youtube will behave correctly. If the problem still exists, uninstall the last codec you have intall before this problem occurs.

You may want to download the latest version of flash player for your internet browser. As for playing downloaded videos from youtube try this:

The video conversion software (actually made by ArcSoft) will not naturally recognize FLV files. You will need a FLV to AVI converter - I use Riva FLV Encoder. Once the YouTube videos are converted to AVI, the video converiosn software for the GoGear should recognize it and convert the video. If the video conversion software is giving you a codec error - get codecs for FLV, AVI, MPEG-4, and any other format you may be using (Quicktime, latest version contains many of these Codecs).
