My xbox 360 will not show video. only audio. I'm using composite cables. It wont work directly to the tv, or through an RF modulator. I've even tried a new cable from the xbox to the tv. ps2 is working fine through both adapters. any suggestions?

I've never seen a VCR use anything other than Composite, S-video or RF analog outputs. That's because VHS uses the NTSC or PAL analog video standards. (In the US, it is NTSC; in Europe PAL is the old standard.)

To use the Composite output, get a triple RCA cable (red, white and yellow connectors). Connect one end of the cable to Video Out (yellow), Audio Out right (red) and Audio Out (white) on the VCR. The other end of the cable goes to the corresponding Composite Video In jack and the adjacent Audio In jacks on the TV. If you are using S-video, (both units must have S-video jacks), the S-video cable replaces the Composite section of the triple cable, so you only need an audio patch cable (two RCA plugs on each end). Be sure to use the audio input corresponding to the S-video input. Note: S-video is generally better quality than composite, although HD digital is still superior.

If you wish to record from the TV, the TV must have a composite video or S-video output. This is not very common. If you wish to record programs from an RF source (cable or antenna), see the next paragraph.

In the days before digital, a typical connection scheme was to run the cable or antenna RF source to the ANT IN coax connector on the VCR, then run a short coax cable from ANT OUT to ANT IN on the back of the TV. This may not work with a digital source. Pre-HD VCR tuners would not be HD compatible, and may even filter out the digital signal in bypass mode (VCR off). You would need an HD to analog converter box at the VCR input to retain this setup. I have no information on your TV's support for NTSC video through the tuner (especially since you did not mention the model : /).

It will depend on your TV's inputs. The included cable is a composite A/V cable. This will work. Match the RCA plugs on each device (yellow to video out on the DVD player, video in on the TV; white and red audio go similarly). Alternatively, you can get and use an S-video cable.

For a better picture if your TV has Component video, get a Component video cable (this has three RCA jacks colored red, green and blue on each end) and then use that. You can get a separate audio cable that only has the red/white RCA jacks (or use the composite video with the yellow video jacks dangling).

If your TV doesn't have Composite video inputs, you need a RF modulator (Composite to RF converter). These are available at many sites, including Radio Shack.

NO. An RF modulator and your digital-to-analog (DAC) TV converter are 2 different devices. The DAC will convert over-the-air (OTA) digital television signals from your antenna to analog NTSC format so your older analog TV can receive OTA broadcasts. The RF modulator converts base-band video (composite cable/RCA connector, or S-Video cable connector) to channel 3 or 4, so you can watch video/audio on your set. To use both the RF mod. and the DAC converter to the same TV, use an A/B switch for F-connector coax, or follow the directions for the RF modulator to make the correct connections.

In order to connect your Laptop with Xbox 360, you will have to use the ethernet cable that came along with the Xbox 360,

For connecting the Xbox 360 to TV you would be having a HD AV cable if you have a Xbox 360 Pro model, you would have to insert one part of this cable with 3 colored wires red,blue and green to your composite video port behind your tv with similar color coding, and on the Xbox 360 HD AV cable you have an option to choose either TV or HD video output based on your TV make, also this cable has two more wires red and white meant for audio connectivity which would go to audio port behind TV with same color code ports

If you have got a normal AV cable with Xbox 360 then it would be a a wire with one single yellow colored wire for video and two wires Red and White for audio

I had this problem when I used my 360 on a new projector, its because the video setting on your 360 is set to 60Hz, and your display can only support 50Hz, you should still be able to see the picture enough to change the setting, but most games will now not work, so yu will really need to buy either;
- The VGA (like what PC'a use + audio) HD Cable
- The Component (a yellow, blue, green and red plug + audio) HD Cable
- The Advanced SCART Cable
or you can connect the standart composite cable (one yellow plug) to an RF modulator and use a coax (arial) connection, but this will give pretty dire quality.

the projector does not have an rf connector, so you have to have a modulator that has rf in and composite video and audio out.

This is a problem a lot of people have with coaxial-only televisions because DVD players do not have coaxial (RF) outputs, which means they can't be connected directly into a television with only a coaxial (RF) input. The solution is to purchase a RF modulator, which is a small device that will convert the AV output from the DVD player to coaxial (RF).
As for the instructions, I am going to assume the DVD player is not a combo unit with the VCR, and that you want to record TV on your VCR. Step 4 will include connecting your DVD player, but if the DVD player is a combo unit with the VCR, just ignore step 4 part as DVD connection will be included in the VCR set up. Actually, you wouldn't need the RF modulator if it is a VCD/DVD combo unit.

1. Connect the coaxial cable coming out from the wall to your digital cable box in the ‘video in’ slot. It might also be labeled ‘antenna in’ or ‘cable in’.
2. From the cable box, connect a coaxial or composite (yellow video cable) and stereo (red-white) RCA audio cables to the VIDEO IN terminal on your VCR.
3. From the VCR, you will have to connect this to the RF Modulator using a coaxial cable from the VIDEO OUT on the VCR to one of the IN ports on your RF modulator.
4. You can now connect your DVD player to the RF Modulator by using the yellow-red-white composite/RCA cables from the VIDEO OUT on the DVD player to another port on the RF modulator.
5. From the RF modulator, connect this unit to your TV by using a coaxial cable. It will be from the VIDEO OUT on the RF modulator to the VIDEO IN or CABLE or ANTENNA IN port on your television.

This should be all you need to get started watching your digital television. In simple terms here is what you did:
Coaxial from wall to cable box
Cable box to VCR
VCR to RF modulator
DVD player to RF Modulator
RF modulator to TV
You will only be able to record what is on channel

Hi, If your TV has only an F input connector, then chances are that it can only accept an RF (TV/Cable) signal. On the other hand your video/signal source puts out a composite video signal (presumably with audio likewise). What you need is an interface converter or more commonly called "RF Box or RF Modulator". This is a device that embeds your audio/video signal into an RF signal transmitting at a TV channel (commonly 3 or 4). These devices are commercially available. You have to specify whether stereo or mono and what color system is being used in your country such as NTSC, PAL, Secam etc. A fine example is RadioShack's RF Modulator Model: 15-2526, Catalog #: 15-2526 (http://www.radioshack.com). A work around is to use an old VCR where you can plug into its RCA Audio/Video INput your signal source and connect its RF out to the F connector of your TV via a short RG59 Coaxial cable terminated both ends with FP-5 connectors.. You have to select either 3 or 4 (as the case may be) in your TV and set your VCR to VTR operations. Hope this be of some help/idea. This is easy in a nutshell. from the cablebox into the VCR RF connection (ant in) then from the VCR RF into the TV RF in. The from the DVD composite video out and audio out into the VCR composite video in and audio in. This make the VCR the hub of your setup the VCR should be set to channel 3 and you can switch between the VCR and the DVD by using the VCR remote. Now for the cords: 1) Cable to VCR RF = Coaxial 2) Composite Video and audio out = RCA patch cable 3)Composite Video and audio in = RCA patch cable That is it. If your TV can support multiple inputs then use it as the hub.
