TV SCREEN GOES BLANK

My TV will play fine for 10-20 min. after that the screen will go blank. Sometimes the screen will light up but no picture. I have no problems with the sound. When I unplug the power cord for a few min. and plug it back in the TV works for a few min. and does the same thing over again. The TV is only about five months old. None of the vents are blocked and nothing has gotten inside of it, and I have always kept it pluged into a surge protector. I have been the only owner of this TV. Please help if you can, and thanks for any advice...

My 37inch is 13 months old, I can be watching tv and then all of a sudden the tv goes black, after a few mins it does come back on, however its doing it more often then ever, I dont know anything about repairing or anyting like that, I also bought the extended warranty from Olevia, but they are saying that they can not find where I bought it. So now I have a large paperweight on my wall. Any suggestions?

Yes, I have a similar problem. I'll watch it for a period of time - 10 mins to 2 hours - and the screen will go dark. The blue light is still on. Eventually it will go back on. I probably won't buy another Olevia again.

Yes your inverter is bad, I have the same problem my set is about 1 and 1/4 years old. Because Olevia makes a terrible product there inverters are attached directly on to the panel, which means they will only sell the inverter along with the panel i.e $700+ to replace + $100 dollars labor if u don't know how to fix it ur self. I am currently searching to find the manufacture that makes the inverters because olevia will not disclose that information. I believe it is darfon, if so the inverter should cost about $150-200 depending. If you dont believe you can fix it ur self ur best bet is try and sell the set for scrap take ur $100 or so dollar and buy a quality product! Oh and dont call there support they will tell 10 different things before u find out this long for seen truth!

Just posting what worked for me:

I had this problem on my 42" Philips. Just got it yesterday and worked fine on the tv stand. As soon as I mounted the TV to the wall via wall mount system, I had the exact same issue you did. Figured it out today.

The wall mount was putting pressure against the center of the back of the tv (tv set had a slightly rounded back plate, and the mount was a flat plate). As soon as I put spacers (part of the wall mount hardware set) between the wall mount braket and the tv so there was no contact except at the mounting holes, the tv worked fine.

My theory is the pressure pushed the tv back plate against some board components which caused them to overheat (no air flow); or put pressure on internal connectors. I dont know.

Hope this helps, may not apply to your situation.

Re-program your CTV and set the timer OFF, after a while if the problem goes the same. you may refer to qualified technician.. for further check-up of the unit. it will posibble in the primary regulator section/hot section.. or leak spare parts at the supply section.

My samsung LE40R74BD set works fine for about 10 mins then screen goes blank (black) . It would appear there is no back lighting. I have visually checked the psu for blown capacitors but all seem to be...

This does not seem to be a power supply issue but rather an issue with the backlight inverter board. When the screen goes black, take a flash light and focus it on the screen from a close distance and several angles. See if you notice a very faint image. Try changing the channels to make it more noticeable. Try it and let me know

TV SCREEN GOES BLANK

Most of you that are having problems,it has nothing to do with your screens themselves, but with the capacitors in the power supply, the caps, over heat and the tops pop out and the dry out and are no longer any good,a soldering iron, solder, and flux are really all that is needed to repair this problem, get good caps at radio shack,or equal location, pay attention to polarity on the two contacts on the bottom of the caps, replace all that are poped up

TV SCREEN GOES BLANK

It's not because of a sleep timer or any other settings. I have a similar problem with my SONY Bravia and it started after only 7 months. Sony has sent technicians to my place, had the TV at their place etc but they say the problem doesn't appear at their service center so they can't fix it. (They've just updated the software (3 times) but that has not helped at all.) I say it's ******** and I will report them to the consumer organisation. They also said they had never heard of this problem before, and that is very interesting since I found about 100 webpages where the problem is reported...:-( Never buying a Sony again!!!!
