Sounds like a failed or at least failing power supply / power board inside the TV. Unfortunately this is a very difficult repair, and unless you are an electrician I would not recommend attempting it. You can test the voltage output from the power supply if you wish... that will show if it is indeed the culprit which I think it is. If you don't want to mess with that you will want to contact a local TV repair person in your area if you are sure this is out of warranty, more on that in a bit here. This is actually the most common problem with this type of TV, I see it every day, it just happens - sometimes with new TVs and sometimes it takes many years for it to happen.

If you think it may still be under warranty please contact the manufacturer to file an RMA. If you happened to purchase the TV with a major credit card (not a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the TV.

If you want to attempt the repair yourself please let me know and I will get you the part number and a place you can purchase it from for what you need.

So sorry that I don't have better news but it is definitely a power issue internally. Please reply to my answer here with any questions or comments and I can help you for sure...

Thanks
Tim

SOURCE: I have a LG MU-42PZ90V

Hi:

On this model you must replace the power supply if the blown fuse was on the power supply, but the main cause for LG failure is the Y_Substain Board assembly. When measureing the voltage of the Large Capacitors, this is the primary side to the main supply, you must measure the caps form hot ground, on the AC side of the Standby transformer for correct Voltage, 66V is to low. Look at the side of the Lrg Capacitors for their voltage ratings, the Supply voltage to these should be some what near this voltage but never higher. The Y_Substain board is to the left of the power supply standing in back of the unit. Its possible its just the Y_Board gone bad, but in my experience the you should replace them both.

SOURCE: I have a Samsung LNS3251D 32-Inch LCD HDTV , that

In almost all cases where the set is taking a long time to turn on and then turning off it will be the Power Supply board that will have bulging capacitors, usually three to five. Look on the upper right side of the Power Supply and look for any blown caps. You can replace these caps and you will be fine. Now the other cause can be the Power Switch is shorting out. You can disconnect the the Power Switch but not the IR sensor and then turn ON the set with your TV remote and see if this stops the problem. If you are not skilled in component level repair on the Power Supply board then buy a new Power Supply board and install it.

Hi I have a 32LG3000 TV and it is showing a flashing red light and will not turn on. I have pulled the plug out etc but no luck. Can you advice? Marion

Hello,

You need to check the output voltages of the power supply to see which one goes off. It may be due to short circuits some where, if otherwise, power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Take care to solve the problem....

Hello,

Check the power supply; look for bad caps with leaking/bulging tops, check to see if you have standby +5vdc at the power supply connector, the front red indicator will not be on if you do not have this +5vdc standby voltage due to shorted out power transistor or zener diode...but if otherwise, Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? We have a LG Plasma TV; 60PC1D and are having a problem with it. When we try to turn it on, it goes from red then white twice, then back to red and will not come on. Thank you

You can only hope that this is a power supply issue which can be determined by visual inspection. If capacitors in the power supply are bulging it can be repaired reasonably, otherwise, you are probably looking at the y-sustain and z-sustain pcb's. This is a very expensive repair. First, have someone check the power supply for bad capacitors, which you can usually see if they are bulging or domed. Then you can decide to repair or replace the set. A power supply repair should cost 150-250 at a reasonable shop. The other boards replacement would be 450-650 us dollars. I'm just trying to give you my best guess... for free. Good luck, Russmann.

Projector overheating shutting off

If the compressor starts and runs check the run capacitor for visual signs such as bulging of the casing or oil leakage which would indicate a bad run capacitor. A bad run capacitor will cause the compressor current draw to be above normal resulting in the overload protector tripping. If the compressor Hums then clicks the compressor is bad.
