I purchased a Jura Capresso Impressa F8 from Williams-Sonoma in January 2009. Yesterday, after turning it on, I heard a hissing sound, and then saw steam or white smoke coming out of the top of the machine. The dispaly said "HEATING" for a longer period of time than usual, followed by the "FAULT 5" display. The coffee machine will not work. I unplugged it overnight to see if it would reset but it has not. The "FAULT 5" continues to display, and the machine still will not work. Please advise.

SOURCE: Jura Impressa x90 Machine. Steam portion

If the machine reaches the steam temperature and ther is no steam coming out of the spout, the problem is usually caused by a blocked steam pipe. Milk going up into the pipe and scale may restrict the wand blocking the steam flow.

To fix it:
Warm the machine is at coffee temperature , ensure that it is not at steam temperature.
Run some water through the sream wand by turning the steam knob.
If there is no water coming out out, use a long pin or a paperclip to unclog the steam. Do not force it over the steam attachment or you may damage the machine.
While doing the job ensure that you are not hurting yourself with the hot water.

Call technical support ringing the number on user manual if that does not fix the problem or if there is no water coming out of the pipe. The machine may not be reaching steam temperature because of a faulty thermostat or the steam valve may be blocked.

To prevent this future, after frothing milk, alway clean the wand running some hot water (steam will not work) through the pipe.

This an indicator of a magnetron issue, but there two other parts that can be a factor, the high voltage capacitor and diode. Depending on the nature of repair it could be as much as a new microwave oven.

You should Clean and dry the metal contacts on the back of the drip tray, ensuring that the gap between the contacts is clean and dry (if present, contacts not on all JURA models) Make sure that the plastic in between the contacts is clean

Bought a new pressure cooker from Williams-Sonoma and it had a DVD to explain it's features. The DVD does not work. When I put it in my computer, the graphics come up, but it won't play. ...

Not sure which pressure cooker model you have.

HOwever, if you visit this website it has YouTube videos that explain the features of the pressure cooker.

Otherwise you could drop a note to Williams-Sonoma requesting replacement DVD at this site.

My DeLonghi Magnifica S ECAM23210 coffee machine is leaking water from the back.

I received the exact same machine for Christmas yesterday and had the exact same problem! I took it back to Williams Sonoma today and exchanged it for another one and I just started it up and have the SAME problem! Water comes out the bottom onto the counter - never even makes it up through the machine. This must be a batch of lemons - I guess I'll call Delonghi tomorrow.

I've misplaced the operating instructions for my williams sonoma remote meat thermometer. I can't get the probe unit/base to sync with the remote transmitter or to show a temp on the base unit and find a...

This is for a model ET-903WS: Turn the base unit on first. This is the unit with the larger display & buttons. Hold the power/mode button (upper left) down until you hear 3 beeps and the display lights up. Mine then displays "BEEF" and shows 160, with 3 blinking spaces. Next, plug the probe into the smaller remote unit. You should get 1 beep, the remote will display the temperature and the base will now display the same temp where the blinking spaces were. The first couple of times I tried, the base would not display. Unplug the probe, turn the base off holding down the same power/mode button and start over. I've had to do this as many as 4 times but it has worked perfectly while I wrote this!?! I really like this thermometer because I can put the meat on the grill go inside and have a drink while watching the game and then a friendly voice comes on when the internal temp is within 10 degrees of your target and says: Your food is almost done...your food is almost done." If you sleep through that, she comes back on at temp and says "Your food I'd done...your food is done". I take most meat off at the first warning and wrap it in foil. Watch the probe and it will continue to rise for about 20 mins. Enjoy.

Yesterday, I went to use the microwave and as I pushed start, I heard a loud pop and saw sparks behind the vent cover. The microwave light and turn table work fine, but it does not heat. Is it repairable?

sounds like your magnetron went out . check how old it is, sometimes the manufacture gives a 5-10 yr warrenty on part if no warranty on unit then it may not be worth fixing depending on how much u spent on it. part roughly 89.99-139.99 labor 85-165.00 depending on who u use and were u live. hope this helps . thanx..

Saw sparks and heard a pop noise when we hit ''start'' on microwave

We just had the same problem - spark, loud noise, and then dead. At first I replaced the ceramic fuse and the same thing happened immediately. A local appliance store tested the transformer and found it was "bad." I purchased a used transformer from the store for about $35. I installed both of these myself with little effort.
