We've got quite an old type of washing machine: a Hoover A2580 - S: It had been running well from 1991 to last summer, when it slowed down, so the condensator had to be replaced. It worked well for a year, then the drum started to revolve very noisily, then suddenly became very loose. Am I right supposing that it was the bearing that broke into pieces? I wonder if it can be replaced!! Thanks for helping me!

Hi,

It sounds like your diagnosis is correct. A failed bearing will cause the symptoms you describe. The bearing can be replaced but is a pretty big job. With the washing machine being almost 10 years old I would recommend looking around for a new one. The bearing replacement will usually run over 1/2 the cost of a new machine.

Possible that the main power has failed , the power supply of the unit had packed up or there is a serious fault in the controller unit. You need to open the control panel unit to trace this case specially using a multimeter, check for the AC power to the unit and check for the DC to the circuit. If not the panel is a suspect.

I WANT THE WIRING DIAGRAM PLEASE HOOVER A2580

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Sorry, this forum is not able to supply any type of manual, installation instructions, electrical or schematic diagrams direct; it's just made up of ordinary guys and gals, probably at home and from all over the world, with experience of addressing problems and giving guidance for free on the web ;-0)
Also members on Fixya are not 'affiliated' to, or representative of, any manufacturer at all, just using their experience gained probably over many years.

You will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make model number) washer technical manual' and you MAY be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount.
You could also try the manufacturer's web site direct but they often only supply to their registered engineers ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
