My acer flat screen monitor will not come on. My mac mini starts up, but the screen stays dark. Last week, it was staying dark after the computer went to sleep; I couldn't "wake it up." After a few restarts it usually came back. But now--nothing. What can I do to fix it? Thank you, James.

I will assume that you have checked out the power cables and external cables. If this is the case you will usually notice an indicator light from your monitor. Universally it is yellow or orange when it has power, then turns green when it detects input from your computer. If the Led light doesn't turn green even when your laptop is already booted, your culprits would be your iMac's video controller or your monitor's input cables.

SOURCE: monitor wont stay on- blue light is on. but screen keeps going blank.

Have you tried the monitor on another computer? If so, and it works, the issue is with your graphics settings on your computer. LCD and plasma based monitors often come with a protection circuit that disables the monitor if the synch or refresh rate are beyond it's capabilities. this is to protect your monitor from damage.

Do not exceed your monitor's max resolution.
Resolution is determined the following way:

Width x Height @ Refresh Rate
For your model:

  • Max Resolution 1440 x 900 @ 75Hz
More detailed information about your monitor can be found HERE. If your monitor is still under warranty, and you find it to be faulty, you may be able to send it to the manufacturer for repairs.

Generally, replace chimic capacitors on the retro-lighting printed circuit. Control the connexion of the transformers on the same circuit, perhaps defectives. Good Luck !

SOURCE: Acer X223W monito won;t wake up after sleep.

I have a dual monitor system, both are the x223w. Same problem but only on the second monitor. Backlight shuts off.On/off light stays blue. I have to turn off the monitor and turn it back on. I returned it and Acer could not find any problem so I got it back. No problem for awhile and now a few times over the past couple days. Not good...

Everytime i conect my monitor into my mac mini the screen shows up for a brief second and disapeers. How can i fix this

You need to lower down the screen resolution. Check the setting of your mac mini then adjust the screen resolution to the lowest.

Whenever I turn on my desktop the screen just stays black.

It appears that your power supply is good, the startup chime says that the system board has passed self diagnostics. If you have a black screen then the problem is either the video card or the screen itself. Unfortunately it is very difficult to tell which one. You might try to use an external monitor. If it works, then the problem is with the LCD.
To use an external monitor you need a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter, or a Mini-DVI to DVI adapter if your display will use a DVI connection. Either adapter is available at any Apple retailer. The connector on the back of your Imac is next to the ethernet connector, and should be the last in the row.

Acer Monitor Not Staying On

Hi,

It sounds like there's a problem with the monitor itself. It may be that the lamp in the computer is dying, which would explain why it keeps going out. Other possibility is that the monitor isn't receiving power properly either through the cable or inside the monitor itself.

If your're not the kind of person who wouldn't mind opening the monitor up and hopping in there, then I recommend you take it somewhere it can be diagnosed like Best Buy.

Hope I helped :)

My acer AL2416w monitor turns on to a black screen

I have 2 Acer AL2416W monitors that i have been using for 2 years. There has been a handful of times i would turn my computer on in the morning and the screen would be black and Acer would lightly flash on the monitor 1 time. Typically a restart would take care of the problem. Last week the monitor blacked out and i can't get it to work. Any suggestions?? I switched ports on the computer to verify it wasn't the video card and tried new DVI cables to verify it wasn't those? Is this fixable??

Hp pavilion f1703 blue monitor power button flashesw/ dark screen

Have you tried connecting this monitor to another computer, even a laptop. This would tell you whether the display is bad or the video card is the culprit. I suspect the monitor's power supply is dying. Taking it to a pro for repair should cost @55.00. Buying a new monitor @ $100 - $125.

Monitor going black

HP's are known for bad capacitors in the power supply.
Replacing them is simple if you know how..not so simple if you don't.
Try your local TV repair centre. It should not cost alot to have the capacitors replaced.

Hope it helps =)
