Three flashing red lights around the Xbox 360 power button (nicknamed the "Red Ring of Death"), represent an internal problem that requires service. Warning signs may include freeze-ups, graphical problems in the middle of gameplay, such as checkerboard or pinstripe patterns on the screen, and sound errors, and the console only responds to pressing the power button to turn it off.

This error code is usually caused by failure of one or more hardware components, although it can indicate that the console is not receiving enough power from the power supply, which can either be due to a faulty power supply or if the power supply cable is not fully inserted into the console.


Distinct from the General Hardware Failure is a similar-looking error warning where four red lights appear, in which case the console does not detect an AV cable is plugged in. The four lights can sometimes also be seen when power surges or very brief power outages occur while the console is running, in which the console needs to be unplugged and plugged back in again to reset the error. Two red lights appear when the system is overheated.

this problem occurs:

When there is too much current.

When the voltage is too high.

When the temperature of the power supply is too high

if you have the console plugged into an extension lead try plugging directly into the wall, but 1st, turn off your console and leave power plugged in to allow fans to continue cooling the system.. after fans switch off, carefully plug out power cord and allow cord and console to cool in a well ventilated area for 24 hours. if its still red you may need to replace your power cord as it may have overheated

its not hard to replace the bulb and you can go to any tv shop and have them order it.youll need to give them the make and model number off the back of the tv so they know what to order

I have the sames t.v you have to go in the back flip the power cord switch...then reboot the t.v.

When the lamp fails in this unit, often the thermal fuse opens. The error code is 6 blinks. To replace this part requires a great deal of deal of disassembly.

First thing i would do would be to check convergance amp ics

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.
