The controller is wireless and connects to the PS3 using the USB Dongle that plugs into the USB Port on the PS3.
How do I pair my Afterglow Wireless controller to my USB dongle?
Plug the new USB dongle into your PS3.
Now, press and hold the Home button (power button) on the controller until the LED on the USB dongle and the 4 indicator LED's on the controller are solid.

Alternating red and white LED colors indicates that it is not detecting an active bluetooth connection. Use the PS3 bluetooth settings to find and reconnect the signal.
Reset the controller by flipping the controller over and looking at the middle of the controller, and closer to the L2 button is a small hole next to a larger one. Unfold a paperclip or something alike and poke it into the whole. Reconnect the controller to the ps3 by using a usb cable and you're done.
