Why do speakers crackle and flash protect

Check your speaker wires. Make sure they are not touching each outher or back of the unit. This will overload your output transistors and shut down your amp.

I have rewired my receiver and the SOny str-d565 keeps shutting off. Is this fixable or should I just get a new receiver?

This unit most likely has shorted output transistors. The unit is entering protect mode which will prevent further damage to the unit. Expect a parts cost in the $40 range for this repair.

I still have a Sony STR-D565 Receiver - but there's one major problem. After a variabel time in use it stop working. If I push the ON / OFF button , It gives the receiver new life, but just for a while....

If the word "Protection" is not flash in the display when this happens, then the receiver is in a tight area where it can't get enough air and is over heating. There are temp senosors on the heat sinks where the output transistors are mounted, and they will shut down the power supply in an overheat situartion, but the protecting indicator shold flash. Blow some air over the receiver and see if that stops the problem.

I turn it on and it says protect and wont play.

That model of receiver goes into protect mode when there is really
low
resistance or a short on your speakers/wires. It does it to protect the
final drivers in your amp. Does it do the same thing with all of your
speakers disconnected? If it doesn't then you might have a problem with
one of your speakers or wires. Check your wires for shorts in them
first. That may be the only problem. That model is designed for 8 ohm
speakers, but you can go down two 6 ohms safely. I have a STR -D865 that

has been running 6 ohm speakers safely for almost 3 years now. A way to
check your speakers out is to take an ohm-meter across the terminals on
them(with the receiver unhooked). They should read anywhere between 8
and 4 ohms. Check with the manual on your speakers to see if they
correspond. If the resistance is really low, you may have a short in
that speaker. it is also possible that if they are 4 ohm speakers, you
could have damaged the drivers in your receiver. I know the model above
mine, (the 965) has a 4-8 ohm speaker selection switch on the back. The
lower models were not designed to run 4 ohm speakers. Hopefully this has

been of some help.

Sony STR-D565 fuse continues to blow

You could have a shorted winding in the power transformer. The diodes in the power supply can be shorted. Filter capacitors can short and send power to ground which will blow the fuse.

MODEL STR-D565 PROTECT LIGHT FLASHING

Hello!
Your amps' output section is shorted and is sending it's supply voltage straight to the speakers. The protect circuit is there to protect your speakers from being burnt. You need to go to an authorized Sony service center. Good Luck!
