In the past week when I turn on the TV, the picture and sound comes on for a few seconds, then it goes black with no sound. The stand by light stays green, never have a red light. I click it off then right back on and everything is fine. I've tried unplugging the unit to see if this corrects it with no luck. Can't find any reference to this type of problem in the manual.
After being on a little while, the screen goes black (no audio as well) for 20 to 30 seconds. Green light stays on. Then, picture comes back on and takes a couple of seconds to get up to full brightness. About 5 seconds or so after the video comes back, the audio returns.
Until this morning, has only happened a couple of times a day, now happening more often. About 3 times in last 20 minutes.

Picture will go out for about 20 secs ,but the sound stays on. Then the picture will come back on for about 3 minutes and the process starts again.
I have the same exact problem. every 30 sec or so both light and sound go off, no blinking lights. then both come back for 20 sec then off again....
did changing the lamp help?
I have the same problem, TV is 1 year + 1 month old. Tech support said I need a service repair person. Would like to know what others did.
I have the same problem. I changed the lamp with a Sony replacement and the same thing is happening. It seems to happen less if the tv hasn't been on for awhile, but the longer it's on, it occurs more frequently. Anybody find any answers?

same exact problem!!!!!!!! so annoying
Blanks out couple times a day, almost like a reboot. Cleaned the fan, only a year old, lamp shouldn't be bad. Ran fan on high speed, no help.
Like most electronics, and the world, engineered to work about 70% of the time. Too bad quality doesn't exist anywhere anymore.

I'm watching tv for an hour or so both sound and picture go black then after about 5 min. the picture and come back on. my tv (kfd-55xs955) is now doing this evey half an hour.
did you figure out how to fix it i have the same problem ugggggggggggggg
