Ogrady1428,

I would check the filter on the fan intake first. Remove it and carefully clean it with compressed air.If this does not resolve your problem then I would remove the lamp and inspect the switch in the vicinity of the door for problems. Be very careful reassembling the unit once the door is removed. The interlock swich must be positioned correctly or you will get an error message. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4168009-change_lamp_in_dlp_projection_tv which explains the problem and how to fix it.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating. We answer these questions for free.

The lamp needs to be replaced. It's on the back and easy to do. I replaced mine about 3 months ago and it was about $182.00. Hope this works, I know it's hard to fork out that kind of money at this time but once you do the TV will be as good as new. Take care

Common Repairs
For the following models: WD-52631, WD-57731, WD-65731, WD-Y57, WD-Y65, WD-57732, WD-65732, WD-57831, WD-65831, the most common repair problem stems from television shutting off almost immediately after it has been turned on accompanied by the message, "TV will shut down in a few seconds. Please check if the air flow is blocked." According to the Mitsubishi website, this issue is caused by a loose connection as a result of a faulty thermal sensor. For models: WD-73727, WD-73827, WD-73927, WD-73732, WD-7383, the most encountered repair problem has been in relation to the optical engine. Another common situation consumers have encountered is failure of the TV to turn on along with unceasing flashing of the green power light. The solution for this problem, caused by the DM board, will vary by repairman. Consumers have also encountered issues with moving vertical or horizontal lines appearing on the screen which can either be due to problems with the capacitor, light engine, or formatter board. Make sure all bad caps are changed.

Error Message

If the set is only 3 1/2 months old, you should still have warranty coverage. Opening up the unit will void the warranty, so don't open up the set. Call for warranty service. In all probability, the air flow sensor is defective. The message you are seeing is a result of the air flow not being detected or not sufficient. In any case, this is a covered problem and should cost you nothing to fix.

Amber system light is on

had the same issue, we even had a personal fan blowing air behind the tv and the message always comes up right when we turn on the set and the tv turns itself off after about 30 seconds. did some research and it turns out there is no air flow problem just a faulty temperature sensor inside the set. Mitzubishi knew about this since 2006 but didn't really aknowlege it until more recently, they admitted it was a problem with the sensor and are now extending everyone's warenty by 2 extra years so if you got it with a year warenty and you bought it less than 3 years ago, call mitzubishi's 800 number and tell them the temperature sensor needs to be replaced, they'll get you in touch with the nearest service center and a service man will come out and replace the sensor at no charge for parts or labor. hope this helps
