For reference you can always find out what oil to use by looking at the oil filler cap or in the owners manual.
on this model toyota it is recommended by the manufacturer to use 5w20 in the v6 and you will need 5 quarts 5.5 if you change the filter. where i live we put 5w30 in these motors as we need the higher viscosity.
that should be everything you need to get your oil change done. Hope this helps you and if you need further assistance please feel free to followup with a comment. If this answered your problem please feel free to rate the solution. thanks and have a great day-Midwest-Tek

2008 toyota tacoma. when do you replace timing chain?

Never.. just run it! Timing belts need to be changed, timing chains pretty much last the life of the truck. 147,000 on mine and no plans of changing it. Dealer told me that he has changed 6 in the last 6 years, many were not due to wear.

Location of the fuel filter on 2000 toyota tacoma 2 wd std cab

Oil filter on a 2000 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner with 6 cylinder IS a screw on filter located on the drivers side front of the engine (just beneath the alternator).

Can't recall the size but, you need a socket with extension to get to the bolts holding the skid pan then, wiggle/lift it from it's hooks. Then, you can either cuss, cuss, cuss while removing the old and installing the new OR, jack the drivers side up 4 to 6 inches ( gives you a bit more wiggle room and keeps you from scraping your elbow to the bone on whatever surface you're working on).

Even then, be ready for a good cussing bout because there still isn't much room.

Where is the oil drain plug? How do you distinguish it from the transmission plug?

the oil drain plug is the 14mm bolt on the bottom of the the big black oil pan. on a tacoma the oil pan is more in the front and tranny sits behind motor- therefore trans pan if further back. I also think the tranny drain plug is more of an alan hex head type bolt. If the fluid comes out red you got the wrong one.

2006 Toyota Tacoma V6 engine oil sensor location

There is not enough flow at the sensor for a second oil filter. The sensor is at a dead end in the oil gallery. I recommend that you persue other options here. If you are concerned about oil contamination, don't be. There is nothing better than the factory filter...Look into adding more oil capacity; Look into an engine oil cooler; there is really no need for a second filter.
