LVW 5104 I problem with my recorder everytime I put in a disc it says failed and I have tried eveything.Does anyone have a solution for me before I buy another one.

Your lite on has lost its mind and needs replacement.

Meanwhile a non rewritable disk cannot be erased. If not finalized it may not be read on another machine but the originating machine can read it.

Judging from product reviews it seems that this is a fairly unreliable unit. About the only thing you can do to possibly improve performance is to clean the laser lense. There are commercially available cleaners for CD/DVD players. The best way to clean the lense is to disassemble the unit and use a cotton swab with alcohol. This may be difficult for someone who doesn't have experience disassembling electronic devices.

Try different brand of DVD rw ,I sure it will work.

The laser in 5101 could be defective or maybe just dirty.Try cleaning with a commercial cleaning disc,put a drop of rubbing alcohol on cleaning brushes.When this happens sometimes it will still be a usable disc but not always.Try putting in another dvd player or recorder or your PC if it plays dvds,the readers in PC are of a better quality and will often read discs that those cheap dvd readers can't.
R+ or R- discs need to finalized after recording RW+and RW- discs do not.It is always a good policy to finalze the second your recording is finished otherwise it may not play in other players or recorders.
When you make a recording in a dvd recorder an it doensn't recognize the disc it just recorded it quite often has a defective laser.This particular model has been plagued with early laser failure.

I have the LVW 5005 and was having a similar problem. Unplugged it tore it apart (looking if anything looked physically wrong) plugged it back in and it worked (and still is). Try unplugging it, letting is sit for 1/2 hour and plugging it back in. Might get lucky.
