I can't remove the canopy on my graco snug ride car seat to wash it. I'm having trouble separating the two parts to get the material off.

The two plastic pieces clip together inside the fabric of the canopy, but if you push the fabric all the way to one side, you can expose the latch where the two pieces meet. The two pieces are identical, so you can push in on the tab on either piece to separate them. You have to push firmly, but they should separate easily.

Once you've washed the canopy, just thread one of the plastic pieces through the canopy and snap the two back together by sliding them together.

Hope that helps!

I wasn't strong enough to pull it apart either, so I stepped on one end and pulled on the other..it worked! And it did not break.

  • rose_aie Jan 14, 2011

I couldn't push the snaps in any way to unclip, because they are so snug there is no give. I tried using a screwdriver and a butterknife on the clips- no go. I just had to gently but firmly pull and they came apart nicely.

    Heidishamp,

Thank you soooo much!!!! Your solution to step on one end and pull was the best suggestion thus far! I was getting so frustrated and your answer eased so much unnecessary stress. I am so thankful for your post.

How do you separate the two parts of the plastic to remove canopy on graco snug ride car seat?

There are two styles for the Graco Snugrides. Older canopies simply have a plastic "claw" the you pull away from the seat where the hinge of the handle is located.
Newer seats have a button on the side of the seat where the canopy attaches to the seat (also near the hinge of the handle).
I hope that makes sense.

Install graco snugride to a graco stroller

Fitting your Graco Snug Ride infant seat into a Graco stroller is usually easy to do -- the exact instructions just depend on which stroller you have. Typically, all you have to do is fold the stroller's canopy back, recline the seat (if it reclines), and snap the car seat in (backwards -- facing the rear of the stroller). You can hear it lock in place when it's in correctly. Your stroller's manual will have specific instructions, and if you don't have the manual you can find it online.

Which Graco stroller do you have?

How do I remove the canopy from evenflo infant carrier?

use a tiny flat-head screw driver to pull outwards on the tab (this is a blue plastic tab on mine) that holds the white plastic u-shaped (canopy part) in. I didnt think it would be this difficult but it is... the graco ones are much easier to take off to wash.

Dismantleing canopy

If this is for the Graco Snugride (I have the Windsor model from the Quattro Travel System), this will work:

1. Push the Graco canopy to one side, exposing the plastic support bars that hold the canopy in place.

2. The center of the support is where the canopy comes apart. Using both hands, pull the canopy support
bar apart (as if you were playing tug-of-war). It's best to grab the curved ends and pull HARD (and point it away to the side so that you don't hit your face).

3. Once the support bars are apart, remove the old Graco canopy and slip on the new/freshly washed canopy.

4. Secure the support bars by snapping them shut, and then slide the canopy into place.

Graco snug ride car seat model #7270BIA

Best bet is to give Graco a call. 800-345-4109 I have done it before, you just have to gauge that it looks right. Put on the cover, fit the top (head) part first, then make sure the sides are on good then the bottom (feet) then you need to pull the straps through the slits to cover the shoulders, slide on the chest buckle pieces. Do you still have your manual? I would expcet them to have a diagram of this. :)

I have a Graco infant car seat and want to remove the padded seat cover to place in the laundry. There are two elastics on either side of the car seat that help secure it to the sides of the handle. I...

What model do you have?

You can call graco at: Graco Customer Service is available Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm Eastern Time.

Ensure you do NOT wash the straps/harness, as it will make it unsafe and you will need to replace it.

They also have an online manual fi that will assist you. I checked my seat, and it is an older snug ride with no straps.

Thanks
