Bose awr1-1w clock radio won't turn on. Speaker pops when power plug is disconnected. This model has 9 volt battery.
My Bose wave radio (w/cd ) was purchased in 1999, it was working fine untill it quit. Power is gone. What could be the cause and how could i fix it or can it still be fixed?
A shorted Q4 in the power supply seems to be a common problem. Q4 is a 2SC3792 which crosses to a NTE85 or KSC2383YTA (Digikey or Mouser supplier's). The pin arrangement on the KSC2383YTA is exactly the same as the original.
Check Q4 for short and replace
I checked Q4 ('D' shaped with 3 pins) and there is resistance between the outer pins and one outer and the center. Is that good? If so what else could I check?

I have same problem as jmpeckham's bose radio
My 1999 AWR113 bose wave just did the same as those below. Any help would be appreciated.
My radio is doing the same exact thing. No additional information to add.
I've had the same issue. It just up and quits working. Bose will repair 'em for $75 + $17.50(shipping both ways) for a total of $92.50. It will have a 1 yr warranty after repair. I have done this since 2008 three different times. Looking inside trying to see if I could fix this myself has never worked. The way they are made more or less eliminates any DIY as there are no visible fuses or anything to access and if you go too far trying to find what is causing the power loss, you can do more damage. It really isn't worth it to try an do it yourself. I'm sure Bose 'factored' that in. The most continuous service I've gotten out of them is around 6 yrs that includes Wave, Wave I & Wave II models.
The good news letting Bose fix 'em is they'll look and perform like brand new out of the box...Bose does do a great job in that department.
