It is quite likely that the power board is at fault. Depending on your competency you could replace it. It is not unusual for the red light to be on and the power board not working. Do a google search for spares eg: spares toshiba ....... where .... is your model number. Hope this helps. Peter
My power button has gone loose so every time i push it in it slides side 2 side...could that be anffect to my television
Although it's not great that the power button is loose (heavy handed use?) the fact that it switches on and off still seems to me to indicate a power circuit problem. There are various internal fuses that protect sections of the circuit boards. If you are lucky this could be the problem. Where do you live, so I can hopefully recommend a source of diagnosis for you if you are not capable and knowledgable enough to do this. You do need test meters to work out what is going on and this is quite a tecnical operation, best done if you know what you are doing. It goes without saying that you NEVER have the unit connected or plugged to an electricity supply while looking at the insides of any electrical aparatus!
Well I am from southampton, N have to say not good when it comes to things like this......if it is the problem u say, how much roughly would that cost
ok, give me model number, when and where bought and state screen size as a cross check. I'll have a dig around when I get the information from you and try and advise on best course. I will be honest and tell you if I think it will be cheaper to dump and replace or repair. Eg. I did a search around for a replacement for my 52" bought for £1,500 a few years ago. I can now get one for £399 but the repair would cost at least £200 with no guarantee of it lasting. That is the sort of thing we are up against these days. Hope this is helpful. ps. Used to live in Southampton years and years ago.
