This unit has a 3.0GHz CPU that only runs at 2GHz. I checked PcChips site for CPU's that run on this board and bought a 3.06 P4. The system will not boot and the bios on the website shows the wrong date. Mine is (9-28-2006 so i flashed it to the one on the download page. I was hoping this would make the 3.0 run at 3GHz but no help there. Installing the 3.06 gives me a blank nothing so I need help. THe PDF manual on the download page for the M963GV ver5 (this is the one I have) shows the M963GV v3.3 manual which is different. I just need to know what to do to get either the 3.0 to run at full speed or to get the 3.06 to run at all and yeah at full speed. Please help

SOURCE: USES only 2ghz instead of 3

Have you just installed this processor as an upgrade?? Check the jumper settings on the motherboard and the multiplyer in the bios. You need 133Mhz clock speed. With the multiplier of 23 which is set in the bios automatically by the CPU id 23x133 = 3.06Ghz. I suspect that the jumper settings are for 100Mhz so 100x23 = 2.3Ghz. Let me know how you get on or if you have any more questions as i have the same motherboard and im gonna buy one of these processors @ [email protected]

My pc restarts when i invoke any programe internet explore or windows explorer.the system is windows xp sp2 with folling configuration pi845gv asrok motherboard,p4 2ghz

If the software appears to be hanging and then rebooting you most likely have bad capacitors on the motherboard. This is a pretty old board and the caps tend to dry out and this is a typical behavior. If there is a brief blue screen before it reboots I'd say just re-install windows. Also be sure to get SP3 and all the security updates. Your leaving yourself open for attack.

I don't know what version is my MS-6547. I want to upgrade the CPU (currently running P4 2Ghz) I know there's a description of each version somewhere here, but this one doesn't sem to adjust to any, First,...

Roberto,
Well I can say its a socket 478 P4 and you can probably only upgrade to about a 2.4Ghz P4 , probably not much of an upgrade, better to build or buy a new PC for around $500-$600

Intel P4 2.66GHz/512/533 is not working on MS9337C+.

#1. Does the CPU fan run if not then you may have a conductivity problem between fan and CPu. Did you use thermal paste or grease?

If fan is running follow directions below from my manual for MS9377C+ mainboard.

Go into the BIOS setup ,go to CPU setup, select proper voltage for you CPU. On Advanced setup page see if the hyperthreading function is revaeled. If so your CPU has this function. Set "Enabled " to test HT CPU function. If this doesn't work try "Disabling" the function. Good luck. I am about to attempt tp upgrade to a Prescott 3.0E which the box says this board supports. Sure hope so . Am running a 1.7 now.

Pc Chips P23G wont reconize my new p4 core 2 duo

The PC Chips P23G versions 1.0A & 3.0 will not support any current generation Core2Duo, Core2Quad or Pentium Dual-Core processors. Only some of the first generation (Conroe Core) Core2Duo processors which run @ 1066mhz bus and some Pentium D (presler core) processors which run @ 800mhz bus.are supported. Not even most current BIOS will add support for any current processors. Check the pcchips website for CPU compatibility for the P23G..

I don't have mother board cd

Hi, I am confused regarding the model of the Mother board
you have:

The P5S800-VM is an LGA775 socket mother-board for a
Pentium 4 CPU.

P4-515, on the other hand, does not return any hits on the
Asus web-site search.

===

I think your best solution is to contact ASUS /USA:

1-888-678-3688

and talk to customer support.

They will guide you in identifying the exact motherboard you
have, so you can download the driver set from their
support site.

BTW.

I think you computer performance is very unbalanced at 256 MB.
This is not nearly enough memory to run with such a fast CPU,
(2.93 Gigs), and your machine must be terribly disk bound:

1) When your operating system runs out of semiconductor
memory, it begins to thrash to disk, which is 10 million times
slower then RAM, making the fast CPU a total waste of
money.

2) For a normal machine running Windows and a 3Gig CPU
you should have at least 1 GB of RAM, preferably 2GB
(RAM is cheap these days)

But before I put my foot too deep into my mouth, I notice that
you are running FREEDOS, does that mean you are running
DOS only (No Windows ?) for some specialized application ?

Motherboard and CPU

Well anything along the 2ghz line in cpu will do and as long as you get a compitibale motherboard that will be fine. If you want a specific combination the intel BX80557E2220 processor (Core 2 Duo) ans the MSI P31 Neo-F LGA775 Intel P31 1333 FSB DDR2 ATX i personally think is great. Please bear in mind you may also need new RAM for this combi.
