If you are planning to overseed or reseed your yard, it would be best to use a rotary spreader instead of a drop spreader. When spreading seed set the spreader on 2 or 3, It really depends on the square footage of your yard. If you purchased seed from a local nursery or hardware store, read the bag and it will have the correct spreader setting on the bag. If you just bought a few pounds and the clerk weighted it up for you, you probably can call and ask the clerk for the spreader setting. But I'm pretty sure setting 3 will work just fine.

When spreading seed, the setting is not important. Adjust it high and go for a light dusting of VISABLE seed on the preped soil. Then rake in lightly. You can never put too much seed down unlike fertilizer. Good luck, and keep it wet for 30 days for best results!
