SOURCE: NEC projector LT220 - replaced bulb, works for 1.5 hrs then switches itself off

obviously what is causing the unit to shut down is due to overheating, that is your protection. the question is why does it overheats. maybe your colling fan fliter is blocked. better chek that filter and make sure it is free from dust accumulation. If that's cleaned and still the same, maybe it is your board that's why your original bulb got busted that you had it replaced. better go for the units check then or it will again damage your newply replaced bulb.

Try pressing the HELP button. Don't release and press the power button. The LED lights should blink. Release then try to power on again.

Lamp hour reset NEC MT1060

The NEC MT1060 lamp hours is stored in an EEPROM chip built into the lamp. As soon as you put in a new lamp (MT60LP or MT60LPS), the hours will be reset. If you remove and put back in an old lamp, the unit will see the hours on that lamp. Thus if the lamp has reached 2100 hours, the projector will remain in standby. See page 53 of the manual for the replacement and reset information.

Most of the manuals for the NEC projectors are available here: http://www.nec-display.com/dl/en/pj_manual/lineup.html . The direct link to the manual for the MT1060 is http://www.nec-display.com/dl/en/pj_manual/mt1065.html .

I hope this helps.

My NEC vt 595 was working fine last night and today i went to turn it on the status and power light started flashing red and orange and there is no picture

if Power is flashing orange - then it's cooling down

if Status is flashing red - then there are 4 flash combinations.
1 cycle (0.5sec On, 2.5sec Off) lamp cover or housing error
2 cycle (0.5sec On, 0.5sec Off) temperature error
4 cycle (0.5sec On, 0.5sec Off) fan(s) error
6 cycle (0.5sec On, 0.5sec Off) lamp error

Which is your condition?

My NEC MT1060R will not turn on and the status indicator is flashing red four times, before and after I changed out the lamp.

Some of the NEC units have a standby status when the lamplife has exceeded its safe limit, the unit I had needed the off button pressing for up to 20 seconds to reset the lamplife and allow the unit to be switched back on. There should be info for this in your manual. (It could have been the on button, can't remember now)

Good luck

We use NEC MT1065 and just replace its lamp but it still won't switched on (lamp indicator led is red). How can I reset it ?

Hello, unfortunately the NEC MT1060 - MT1070 series projectors have EEPROM chips built into the lamp housing which counts the hours that the lamp has been used for so the only way to reset the hours is to change the lamp for a new one, if your old lamp has only had the reflector replaced then it will make no differance because the chip tells the projector weather or not to power up depending on the hours its counted, i have not yet found a way to reset the chips even by reprogramming them, i'm afraid the only solution is to replace the lamp with an official NEC unit, but this was obviously their intention, just as an added note, a solid red lamp indicator light means that the lamp has expired, if its flashing red this means its nearing the end of its life, if the status indicator light is flashing then there could be another issue, by counting the flashes you can reffer to the manual in the troubleshooting section to diagnose the fault, I know this is very late, but anyone else reading this may find it helpfull.

I have replaced bulbs in 3 different types of NEC projectors: a silver, older model thta uses a VT60LP bulb, model VT595 and VT470. The lamp will still not work - the power and status light just continue...

I had the same issue, what I figured out was that I never removed the lamp door correctly, causing a small plastic piece to break off. To see if this is also your problem, inspect the back of the lamp door, top right corner, if it seems a rectangular plastic piece is missing, thats the problem. It presses in a small button nearby the lamp to let the projector know it's safe to power on.

Power light flashin orange, status light flashing red on WT610 NEC

if the status light is flashing .5 seconds on and 2.5 seconds off - you need to replace the lamp cover correctly.
if the status light is flashing .5 seconds on and .5 seconds off in 2 - 6 cycles the error is: 2 cycles - the projector is overheated. Move the projector to a cooler location, or/and remove dust in the light path. 3 cycles - the power unit is not working correctly. 4 cycles - the fans are not working correctly 5 cycles - lamp fails to light. Wait a full minute and then turn on again.

Status light blinking red

If it is a lamp error try this:
When the lamp exceeds 2100 hoursof service, the projector cannot turn on and the manu is not displayed. Do the following:
For VT670/VT470 Press the help button on the remote control for a minimum of ten seconds.

For VT570/VT47 Press and hold the power and the exit buttons on the remote control simultaneously for a minimum of ten seconds. When the lamp time clock is reset to zero, the lamp indicator goes out. Hope this helps! :]
