Hoover only two years old an stopped working!

My hoover self propelled wind tunnel was working great until a couple of days ago when it started shutting on and off while vacuuming. I thought it was the outlet but when I plugged it into two different outlets it did the same thing. Then finally yesterday it just stopped working it won't even turn on when plugged in. I thought it was the switch but it is not. Is it the motor? Has the motor burned out? Do I need to buy a new one? Help!!

I have only had mine a couple of months and it is turning itself off it seems like it is getting hot.

I was just using it and emptied the cannister and when I went to turn on again, it just didn't switch on. I thought as clog might cause it but it wasn't that.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.

I think you are right, if it is not the switch then it would be the motor. Does it smell bad like a burning smell? If so it is definitely the motor and then @ that point you may want to get an estimate for motor replacement, and keep in mind of what you spent on the vacuum versus what the cost of repair might be. My own rule of thumb is if it cost more than ½ of the price I paid for it then you have to decide – do I want to pay the repaired cost for the vacuum or do I want to purchase a new one. Just a suggestion... You may want to check with your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

My Hoover wind tunnel self propelled vacuum #U6439-900 stop working. I checked the bag, filters, clean the roller and it's still not working.

Your motor may have siezed. You may have a cut in the cord somewhere too. Need more specifics to pinpoint problem. Did it stop working suddenly? Did it smoke of smell funny the last time it worked?

My hoover wind tunnel just quit while vacuuming. It is dead??? Two years old used about every other week? Any suggestions?

Some Wind Tunnels by Hoover have a poor design in the switch on the handle. Sometimes the switch does not turn on all the way and will stop running. Other times you can't turn the unit off.

Why won't hoover wind tunnel self-propel?

Hi there! The self-propelled feature is controlled by a belt. Check the belts on your Hoover Windtunnel by following these quick steps.

1. Recline the handle. Lay the cleaner fat and flip it over to expose nozzle base.
2. Remove the screws attaching the nozzle.
3. Check that the belts are not broken, stretched or damaged.

Replace the belts if they are damaged. Hope this helps!

Self Propel doesn't work on Hoover Wind Tunnel

Your self propel wire could be broken. Lean the vacuum back like you were using it. If you stand in front of the vacuum look down and to your left. When you move the selp propel button you should see a wire move. If not then it's broken.

Hoover self-propelled wind tunnel doesn't self propel going backwards.

Your self propel cable sounds like you need to have an adjustment. reccomend a service shop repair.

Why wont the self propelled brush on the hoover wind tunnel work. large belt is ok. the small belt looks 0k.

no don't do that, have a little patience.check where the self propelled assembly is and see if anything got in there, something might be loose and the teeth are meeting each other.thats a good vavuum.i have 2 but their not self propelled.try taking the belt off the self propelled machanisn and try it again.if it works then something is keeping the propelled machanism from working.dig a little deeper, what do you have to lose?

Hoover wind tunnel upright self propelled. U6473-900. Brush does not work. Heard it was a 'brush controller' problem and can be fixed. Please tell me how.

Most likely the flat belt has stretched enough so as to not turn the pulley that in turn turns the brush roll using a V belt. Also there is a small idler wheel, if hook up, then it won't engage the V belt.

HOW DO I REPLACE THE DRIVE BELT ON A HOOVER WIND TUNNEL SELF PROPELLED

Take the brush belt and slip it over the pull into the groove. Then take the flat belt and hook onto the motor shaft and then pull belt over pull and push it around the entire pulley. It can be difficult but after the first time it is easy. You have to push the belt up with your thumbs so the belt will wrap all the way around
