My Toshiba DLP Projection TV model number 44NHM84 will turn on but shuts off after 1-2 minutes. What do I need to do to fix this issue?

There are several reasons why your Toshiba DLP projection TV might be turning off after a few minutes. Here are some steps you can take to try and diagnose and fix the issue:
  1. Check the lamp: The most common reason for a DLP TV to shut off after a few minutes is a faulty lamp. Check the lamp to see if it's still functioning properly. If it appears to be damaged or has reached the end of its life (typically around 2000-3000 hours), replace it with a new one.
  2. Check for overheating: Overheating can also cause the TV to shut off. Check the fan to see if it's running properly and clean any dust or debris that may be blocking the airflow.
  3. Check for firmware updates: If the TV's firmware is outdated, it can cause it to shut off. Check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates and install them if necessary.
  4. Check the power supply: A faulty power supply can also cause the TV to shut off. Check the power supply unit to see if it's functioning properly and replace it if necessary.
  5. Check the color wheel: If the color wheel is damaged or not functioning properly, it can cause the TV to shut off. Check the color wheel for any damage or signs of wear and replace it if necessary.
If none of these steps solve the issue, it may be necessary to have a professional technician diagnose and repair the TV.

Power button blinks green about 1 minute then goes red

There is an additional problem,

if the bulb had been replaced by a technician, call them back and ask for additional support, since they did not fix the problem.

I replaced the colorwheel and the lamp. The TV powers up the lamp comes on and about 5 seconds later the lamp goes off and the TV powers off. Any ideas?

You may still have an issue with the color wheel. That or the ballast is bad. I don't think it's the lamp if you've just purchased a new one. It's possible that you've installed the color wheel wrong, or that the color wheel is defective.

Replaced lamp. TV does not respond

Hi, do you hear clicking or like a start up sound? if you do it could be an issue with the ballast, that's the board that powers the lamp. Here's how to replace it: http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp47-00033a.php Does your TV make a "whining, whirling, clicking, or humming noise?" If the TV have the infamous blinking lights problem and you're replaced your lamp without success, it's most likely a problem with your color wheel. The Samsung BP96-00674A color wheels spin anywhere from 6,000 to 15,000 revolutions per minute (RPM’s)--It is one of the few consumable parts in your Samsung TV. The average life expectancy from our data logging shows the Samsung color wheels are fairly reliable with a MEAN average of 5-8 years. Here's how to replace it:http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp96-01579a.php Also make sure door cover is properly shut and also reset lamp timer by unplugging tv wait 5 min and plug it back again.God bless you!

Trying to replace lamp fan

First let make sure it's the Lamp fan. What many people think is the fan, And by the way there are three fans in this model, What sound like a fan is in fact a color wheel. So listen to the set as it starts up, these Samsungs make certain sounds when they start. First after you hit the power button you get the "Samsung Tones" from the speakers, second ALL the Fans start 1 to 2 seconds later the color wheel starts then stabilizes, third you may here the lamp fire. So if the sound takes two to three seconds after you turn the set on it's the color wheel BP96-00250A Now when it shuts down its like this First the shutdown "Samsung Tones" then watching from the back after a few seconds the lamp will shut off, then the color wheel stops but all the other fans remain on for about 2 minutes. I've worked on thousands of these and in only one or two was the problem a fan. but on the other hand I have enoghf bad color wheels I was able to make a pertty inpressive Christmas decoration

Loud noise

I believe it is the color wheel. The motor might be going bad or it has dirt or dust in it.

I hope this helps
