Music & memory loss

When I tried to erase the voice-recorded files, it erased all my music files. So, since I have a good number of the music on my computer, I tried re-syncing the music back on. Not only did the computer say it was successful when it had NOT successfully re-synced, but every time it "successfully loads", it takes away my memory as if it had been loaded onto my mp3 player.

HELP!

Never mind! I recovered everything. If you go onto Sony's website, there was an update that had to be installed. The version needed to be changed from 1.0 to 1.1. (Don't ask me why.) Anyway, it's a very easy update to add.

I deleted my audio files directly from the computer. Now that I try to record again, the device says that memory is full, even though I have no files on it. How do I reset it to record again?

To erase a selected file, first press the [ERASE] button. Next, press the [+] (plus) or [-] (minus) button to select "ERASE," and then press the [ERASE] or [OK] button.
To erase all files in a folder, first select the folder and press the [ERASE] button for three seconds or longer. Next, press the [+] (plus) or [-] (minus) button to select "ALL ERASE." Finally, press the [ERASE] or [OK] button.
NOTE:
The recorder should be formatted using only by using the internal FORMAT function found in the recorder's Menu. Formatting using the computer may corrupt system files needed to run the recorder, so computer formatting is not recommended. Individual files can be deleted using the computer with no negative effects.

I can`t erase any of my recordings.

Make sure you press erase twice and wait a few seconds for all of the files to pack. The unit fills the holes when a file goes away. You can erase say file 3, then it will pack all the files to put #4 in 3's old place, 5 in 4's old place and so on. Make sure you dont keep erasing the same number file becuase the new #3 file is the old #4.

Erased files

Unfortunately this recorder model is designed with flash memory and once the files are erased they are gone. There are some companies that do specialize in flash memory recovery (Olympus is not one of them). You can go to google and search for flash memory recovery specialists. However this is a very costly process as it involves sending the device to these companies for them to do the recovery process.

Normally, hold down the erase button until the folder begins blinking, then release the button and press it again. You will have to do this for each file in the folder.
