I own a 5700 watt McCulloch generator. Bought for Hurricane Katrina. Ran perfect , changed oil & used fresh gas regularly. Crank every couple months to keep gaskets from dry rot. When I cranked it Saturday generator ran fine but I could not use electricity from it. None of the outlets worked, I can't find my manual to trouble shoot . I need help

Most likely the protective circuit breaker has tripped. It doesn't look like the circuit breakers in your house wiring panel -- it is often just a small button that you must press to reset. It can trip easily from a surge when you first plug in an appliance (especially one with a motor), but if it keeps tripping with nothing plugged in, then you have a short in the generator wiring. Good luck!

Pull start on a 5700 watt generator is locked up. Tech left the fuel shut off ON over night. It filled my oil up with gas. I drained all the old gas and oil out. Refilled it with 37 ounces of 5w30

Did you remove the spark plugs and drain the fuel from the cylinders? The gas in the oil was definitely a sign that the oil needed draining and replacement, but the pull start may be hydro-locked in the cylinders are full of fuel.

11 hp 5700 watt generator wont fire

If you could not start in spite of oil and gas change, checked gas supply, spark plug, ignition cables and coils (magnetos) and so on whitout success, then try this:
Your generator has a low oil level protection, which stops the ignition of the motor.
After "a couple of years" sitting without or with old oil, the level switch may have got lazy or stuck down.
If your oil level seems to be good, while measured, find the oil switch and try to shorten or disconnect it.
If you succeed in running the generator change or repair the oil switch.

I hope that this will be helpful, because I don't have your device in front of me, but some people rank such an answer with 2 thumbs, which means useless. Better dont rank.

Chainsaw won't stay running at full throttle

15 years old...

One cause to look in too is a leaking seal around the crank, this is causing a vacuum leak.

Hope this tip helps.

VALSI 5,500 WATT GENERATOR WILL NOT START

All generators need to be run once a month. All things from the tank to the and including the carb will get gummed up with dried out fuel. I have a whole house generator and a 5500 watt gen set on my motor home. I keep fresh fuel in the stand alone house generator in California in case of a bad earthquake. I drain the gas after every run and keep all vehicles full of fuel just in case. Run gen sets at least once a month or pay pay pay!!

McCulloch 11HP FG6000MK surging

it sounds like the govener screw needs to be adjusted by turning it clockwise and then you may have to tweek the throttle screw. hopefully that will take care of it.

Generator will not generate electricity.

I assume it is a hand start genset. The most common problem if it has been sat for a while is rust on the ignition timing flywheel. If you take the pullcord housing off (recoil) then you will see a big flywheel with what can only be described as a big forked prong with a couple of wires on it. This flywheel should be stainless steel and rusts when sat around for a while without use. Its job is to complete the circuit to the spark plug every time the flywheel passes the forked prong at a given spot on the flywheel, the faster the wheel turns the faster the spark hence the engine runs quicker. Clean the rust off with a releasing agent (wd 40) hey presto!!!!!!!!!!!
