Hi signed up for a yahoo email account, I have an exsisting webmail account that downloads into my microsoft outlook. Now I can't get into my outlook and can't figure out how to change the settings to do so.
What is preventing you to get into outlook? It just won't open or is there an error or password needed?
Are you using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express because this makes a difference?
can you get into microsoft word still and other office products?
Have you tried restarting the computer?
you don't know how and need help right? to set up outlook to get your yahoo mail too?
does outlook freeze when opening and have you tried opening it from the desktop and from the start button?
Will outlook express work for you?
Have you checked for updates recently? May I suggest downloading any updates Microsoft may have from the following link
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Searc...
It is possible that you have too many messages in it and don't have enough RAM memory to operate the program. Do you think this might be it
Have you tried outlook safe mode? 1. Click on Start ¦ Run.
2. Type outlook/safe
3. Click on OK.
also after trying to open wait, say 10 minutes and maybe it will open or freeze up but with no error messages it must be thinking that it is opening, but really slowly
Alright to help get rid of some of the memory (which can be put back in later) Look for your data files ending in .pst and back them up which means rename them and put them in a different folder not in outlook and see if outlook will start then.
Please don't forget to rate this solution as that is one of the biggest
aspects of how this website works and in order to receive any credit in
helping you, I need to be rated.
Otherwise, let me know if you have further questions and I would be glad to help.
Thank you

Do you mean you want to add your yahoo email to Outlook?
Go to add/Remove programs in the control panel. Find Microsoft Outlook or if you installed it as part of Office you may only find Microsoft Office in the list. There should be a change button, click it. Once the installer opens you should have a repair option, select it, then go through the steps you are prompted. Make sure you have your Outlook or Office CD handy as you will be asked for it. This should repair outlook and allow you to get in.
I still think something is corrupted with either your Outlook or your mail store. Doing the repair will eliminate Outlook from the problem. Then if the problem persists after the repair I can help you move your mail store and delete your account to try and access Outlook again.
Let me also suggest Mozilla Thunderbird as a free Outlook alternative, I prefer it. It's a lot less bloated than Outlook and more reliable. If you don't use the calendar in outlook it's the best, but Mozilla has Sunbird for that.
No, repairing will not touch your mail store.
I have never seen the amout of messages being a problem especially related to the amount of RAM in a computer. Windows is great at swapping out unnecessary items from memory to it's hard drive based virtual memory swap file. It could be that your mail store (PST file) is corrupt but Outlook would still open and you would get an error message if that was the case. It sounds like Outlook is trying to start but then stops. I have users that have 2 or 3 Gigabyte mail stores and have no problem opening up Outlook on a machine with 512MB or even 256MB of RAM.
Do you know how to bring up the task manager? If not you can get it by right clicking the task bar and clicking Task Manager or by pressing crtl-shift-esc. Then go to the processes tab, then try to start Outlook, you should see outlook.exe appear in the list. If it goes away right away then do the repair, if it stays up but stops then also to the repair. If it keeps running, and its memory usage keeps climbing then there might be something wrong with your mail store, but I doubt it.

2 of you are assisting me today with 2 very different options. Probably both great. It is suggested I have too many messeges in my outlook. Which I most likely do. Would the repair help that if I don't have the RAM?
