Hello. I can't view the DCIM folders on my SONY Cybershot w50 whenever I connect the USB and the memory stick. I really need the pictures. The older file that's in the Drive E is the Windows Back Up Files. The files are all in there but I can't either extract the files. What should I do? I really need those photos. I hope you'd be able to help me with this. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How do I download my pictures from my Sony camera to the computer?

Here is one instructional video tutorial from Sony Support; also could try this procedure:
- Take off your memory stick from your camera and insert it into your memory stick adapter. Open your camera's battery case and gently push the memory stick until you hear a faint "click," then remove it from the camera. Place the memory stick inside the adapter that comes with your camera.
- Insert the adapter into your computer's memory card reader, if you have one. The adapter, which is larger than the memory stick itself, is approximately the same size as an ordinary SD memory card.
- Connect your Sony digital camera to your computer using its USB cable if you can't find or don't have a memory stick adapter. Insert the small end of the USB cable into the camera. Insert the wider, flatter end into one of your computer's USB ports.
- Click "Open Device to View Files" to open your memory stick or camera. Search for the DCIM folder and click on it. Navigate through any photo subdirectories you've created and highlight photos you want to transfer to your computer. Right-click anywhere in a given folder, then click "Copy." Go to the location where you want to store your images, then right-click within that folder. Click "Paste" to transfer your images.

Hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).

How to load photos taken from sony cybershot w50 to my comouter

I'm sorry for the difficulties you're experiencing in transferring images from the Camera to the Computer. Once you connect the Camera to the computer, you will get the Camera as a removable drive under My Computer. You can open the removable drive to see the pictures stored in the Camera/Memory Card.

If the Operating System installed in your Computer still needs a driver, you may use the Memory Card slot on the Computer to transfer the pictures. Please follow the steps to transfer pictures using Memory Card Reader in the Computer:

- Remove the Memory Card from the Camera.

- Insert it in the Memory Card slot in the Computer.

- Open the pop up window or find out the removable drive under My Computer.

- Copy the required files to a folder in the Computer.

DCIM folder contains the images.

Note : Most of the Notebooks comes with its own Memory Card Slot. If it does not, you may get one from the market without much spending.

Thanks for understanding.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Hello. I can't view the DCIM folders on my SONY Cybershot w130 whenever I connect the USB and the memory stick. I really need the pictures. What should I do? I really need those photos. I hope you'd be...

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Pictures were taken with my SONY CYBERSHOT 10.1 camera - but there was no memory stick in the camera. Now the picture are in the internal memory. I've tried to delete them, but I get messages that say they...

first of all remove any memory card you may have in the camera.. Then connect the camera to your computer using the USB cable provided. Then Switch on the camera, Once windows has recognised your camera, open up My Computer. There will be a removable disk icon appeared, open it up. Open the DCIM folder, then open the 101_SONY folder. This now has given you access the area where the camera stores you photos. select the first file by left clicking on it, then hold shift and left click on the last file, they should all now be highlighted. Now right click on the last file. and select properties from the menu. On the window that appears, deselect read-only checkbox and click Apply. Your photos will now no longer be write protected and can be deleted.

Hope this helps

Sony dsc-w50. iam not finding the folder to delete photos after connecting to pc. but able to import to pc.

The images will be in the DCIM Folder.

Go to the "My Computer" or "Computer" window, click on the Drive which represent the Camera and locate the DCIM folder and delete the images.

However, it is recommend to delete the images using the Camera (not from the Computer).

You may try formatting the Memory Stick. Formatting the Memory Stick will delete all the Data from the Memory Stick (Camera).

To format the Memory Stick:

Press the Menu button on the Camera -> SETUP -> MEMORY STICK TOOL -> Format -> OK.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Cannot delete the pictures on my memory stick. Would like to delete all at once rather than one at a time.

Its simple.
After connecting sony camera USB to laptop, a window will pop up automatically.
In that select files to open.
You can see a folder named DCIM.
click and open DCIM folder, it will contain another folder 101MSDCF.
Inside 101MSDCF you will find all photos that were taken.

This is what i do to reclaim the memory...
I dont know whether its standard way to delete the photos from sony memory stick.
any support guys from sony camera can comment on this solution...

thanks
Select and delete.
