I have a 55 cup Farberware Urn. Pot will perc coffee sometimes & sometimes not. Problem exists since new, & have replaced both thermos. Water gets very hot, but not as Coffee. Sounds like perks, but no coffe. Unable to see perks, due to solid lid. Suspect missing stem spring is the problem, where does spring fit on/under stem? Have never seen stem spring in this unit since new! I can buy spring for $1.49.

How much coffee do I use for the 22-cup Farberware coffee pot?

that would depend on the coffee, and how strong you like it.

as well as how large your standard cups are.

I use 1/4 cup of folgers classic blend for 4 'normal' cups of coffee. I also use an oversized camping mug - so 4 normal cups fills two of the mugs. - - - you may want to try 1 1/8 cup of coffee grounds in the filter if making a full pot.

I bought a 1950's farberware perc coffee pot. Since it is not heating we think we might follow directions on bottom. remove plate, hook next hole in fuse wheel ..We can do this but...Also there is a small...

Hi J lee. If you go on to eBay and search for Farberware coffee pot parts, you will see the filters you need. The 206 is a URN , You put the ceramic tube on the pump, now you put the cone spring on top of that, small part to the ceramic, then the coffee basket on top of that. I sell and repair Farberware pots through eBay and if you have any questions you can get me on my email [email protected]. Good luck. Ron

I have a Faberware coffee urn that perks the coffee, but it isn't very hot. What is the problem?

The problem is the keep warm element. The reason, your pot perc's and it gets hot near the thermo, the thermo turns off the main element. The keep warm element is not on so after a small amount of time the water cools and the thermo turns the main element back on again, thus making the water hot. The K W element is supposed to be on all the time the pot is plugged in, it is instrumental in perking the first brew making it really hot, the thermo turns off the main element and the K W element keeps the water hot. The K M element is very a easy fix, it is the small looking white ceramic thing about 3-4" on the bottom of the pot.. When removing the screw from the main element you must hold the (leg) that the K M element is screwed to so it does not bend and brake off. Take your time and be firm with the pressure you apply to the screw, while holding it with a pliers. I have them. [email protected] Good luck

My 25cup Farberware urn quit perking coffee can it be reasonbly repaired?

I have the same urn and had the same problem.

There are 3 common causes of lost perk that can be dealt with at home, and cause about 1/2 of the failures with these urns. They are very common when the pots are used rarely or carelessly cleaned after use, and when coffee is ground too fine for perc (drip grind is too fine for perc). As long as the pot is still heating, check these three things:
1) Clean the _inside_ of the hollow stem )that holds the basket and moves the water from the bottom of the pot to the top), to remove all grounds. You should be able to see clearly through it.
2) At the bottom of this stem there is a very small cup that has little holes in it and fits into the little well at the bottom of the pot. Make sure these are completely clear.
3) Scour out the little well so all residue/ grounds are removed and the little cup fits perfectly into the well.

It is the perfect fit of the two that allows the perc-ing cycle to occur.

If the pot is not heating, or these cleaning measures do not work, a local electric repair shop can probably do the repair for about 1/2 the cost of a new urn.
