You would need to take it to a lock smith or an ace hardware. also bring one of the doorknobs so they can key it alike. Unfortunately, keying locks is not something that you can do without advanced equipment and experience.

Rekeying house door lock

rekeying depends on the specific brand of lock you have.

The easiest solution would be to replace your current locks with the same brand. Figure out how many of which locks you want to change, ie: deadbolts, entry knobs, etc. and buy matched sets from your local hardware store. They are marked with a key code on the box...make sure they match if you want the keys to be the same.

Key won't turn deadbolt

Try using your smartkey to "rekey" the lock to the original key... there's really no reason to buy the smartkey system unless you change locks alot... they are meant for the apartment industry more than anything I believe... in any case, the smartkey system allows you to rekey the lock without removing it from the door... so, use the original key and use the smartkey to rekey it or select a different cut and key it to that key... should solve your problem.

Last resort... take it back to HD for replacement.

I bought 2 kwikset deadbolts. The first one worked out fine. The second one I turn the original key by accident. Now neither key will work.Is there a way to rekey my original key.

put the 'dummy key' that came in with it, turn it a 1/4 turn right, put smart key in, pull out smart key. pull out the key and insert the key that you would have as a desired key and turn left 1/4. thats it!!!!!!

Doorknob sticks in 'lock' position-but no real 'lock' feature

If this is the lock part itself, try gradually loosening install screw enough to be able to manuver lock to work and if so slowly tighten as you test each time gradually. Please clarify problem more if need to.

Need to have a master key for all locksets

Any locksmith can rekey the locks to a single Master. Some make house calls, but it costs less to take them off and take them if this is feasible.

Rekeying kwikset locks

Sure. You need to install the key in the cylinder and keep it turned so the pins are on top. Then you install the pins one at a time in each hole until all the pins fit level with the top of the cylinder, You will probably have to re-arrange the pins once or twice to get the correct length in the correct hole but once all the pins are level you're home free.

Lost keys to my Entry door lock

Visit your local Home Depot and purchase a Kwikset re-keying kit. They're inexpensive and work fine but stay alert and follow the instructions properly. This kit comes complete with proper pins as well as new keys. Good Luck!
