Hi, how to enable subtitles for DivX movies from USB on LG 42LE5500? I connect USB, TV recognizes folder where DivX .avi file is but within same folder it does not "see" .srt subtitle. Also, in settings for "video player" only "picture size" can be modified - audio language as well as subtitle language positions are grey. Any hints? Thanks

It seems that subtitle file must have exactly same name as movie file. For example: Movie file: Mission impossible.avi Subtitle file: Mission impossible.srt or Mission impossible.sub or Movie file: Mission_impossible.avi Subtitle file: Mission_impossible.srt

Yes, but how do i put two files with same name in one folder

  • Anonymous Apr 25, 2013

Yes, you can place two files with the same name in one folder, because their extensions are different.

Be sure that the file name doesn't include ".srt". The pc is able to recognize it as an extension of the name, while the LG-tv is not. And avi and srt files must have exactly the same name in order to work together.

  • Anonymous Sep 12, 2012

Wow this actually worked for me, only sometimes it actually works while not removing the .srt extension.. Some really weird firmware, they might consider upgrading. Anyways, thanks alot!

  • Anonymous Sep 12, 2012

Set encoding type of the srt to ansi instead of utf8,
by opening the srt with notepad, save as (name..) and choose ansi before saving

You can combine your video with subtitle. Then you can play it freely on TV with USB. The VLC media player is one excellent tool for smart video consumers and even a lot of professionals. This program is very stable and simple to handle. You can use it to play almost any format video smoothly. It is without any configuration hassle. It can run very well, which allows users to do many tasks related to videos like subtitling videos. Check out this article and you will learn the way to use VLC to add subtitle to video file easily.

Thank you for all the help, guys. I had also no subtitle when I was watching movies using USB. Now after I renamed my subtitle file same as the AVI file is and I put two subtitle files, one with .srt and one without extension, it works great.
My TV support .srt, .sub and many other subtitle extension. So, I think the same name matter. Will test this next time.

Thanks!!

SOURCE: can not delete subtitles on my LG Plasma TV

Hi,

If you've got a cable receiver, you can change that in the menu of that receiver.
Or maybe the setting on textpage 888.

Cheers,
Gerard

I have LG TV 42LD550. When I try to play a movie from Flash drive using YSB it get the message "There is a problem with USB. I have used the format MacOS Extended (Journaled) as well as FAT.

To use a USB flash drive with the LG 42LD550, the drive must be formatted as a FAT32 or NTFS device. The drive should be 32GB or less. Not all USB devices will be recognized - this can be a driver issue. (I've had a few devices that didn't take a USB flash drive, if the drive required a driver to run under Windows 98.) If you use an external drive (portable or desktop), keep the drive capacity to 1 TB or less.

Next what files are on the drive? This TV will only recognize JPG images, HD DivX (.avi and .divx) movies and MP3 audio files. The not all codecs may be supported with these formats. Some people report losing the ability to play movies after certain firmware updates. If the drive has too many folders or files in a folder, it may not work. (This will happen sooner with the FAT32 format.) See page 96 of the user manual to see the file format limits on the USB port. The manual is available on the TV support page: https://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-42LD550 . The current link to the manual is http://gscs-b2c.lge.com/downloadFile?fileId=oqXZ71Wn8YXJ3OKzy9leAw .

I hope this helps.

Panasonic DVD S48 - DVD player how to play movies over usb

Yes, I know Panasonic DVD S48, if your movie file is right divx avi movie file, you can directly transfer the divx avi movie file to your usb disk and play on your Panasonic DVD S48, but if your movie files isn\'t divx avi movie file, you have to use a right software to convert your movies to right divx avi movies, then transfer to your usb disk, convert any movies to divx avi movies.

Hi i have LG 42pg20 plasma tv , it have divx built in but it cannot able to play mkv file format , but avi or mpeg play , how can i upgrade divx software in tv to divx plus . divx plus can play mkv...

you can't and DIVX is an AVI format. MKV is an entirely different encoding format. There are no TVs or DVD players that support MKV. Also you will not get a DVD player that will paly BlueRay. DVD and BluRay require 2 different lasers on the drive to read the format so your software will not allow for this through a USB or hdmi either. You have what you have and there is nothing you can do aside from using the PC the movies were pirated from and connect it to the TV.

.srt / .txt / .sub folder (subtitles files )

and both of the folders should have the same name ( of the movie )
So,unless you have these 2 folders together , you are not able to see ant subtitles..
if it is ok,than sub comes automatically when you start the movie..

Can't play divx or avi

Thats because Divx or AVI is not a recognized format for a DVD Player. If you are burning a disc you need a software that can create a DVD Format Disc from an AVI as all DivX are AVIs. I reccomend Ulead DVD Workshop 2:
