Kenmore front load washer goes through wash and rince cycles but will not spin

These are symptoms of a broken door lock and switch assembly and the only viable solution is replacing the said assembly if no issue is found with the wire harness connections. The machine will not advance to the spin cycle unless the door lock spin switch is activated. This is a safety feature to prevent the door from opening and avoid injuries during the high-speed cycle. Replace the door lock and switch assembly and it should solve the problem. Click on the link below for the detailed instruictions on how to replace the door lock and switch assembly. The part number for the door lock and switch assembly of your machine may be different but the instructions still apply.

F1 code

This is a problem associated with the machine/motor control assembly and/or the pressure sensor system. Either the machine/motor control assembly is at fault or it is sensing an error in the signal from the air pressure sensor circuit. Unplug the machine for half an hour or so to forcibly reset the machine/motor control assembly and eliminate the possibility of a simple electronic glitch.

Remove the three screws from the rear of the console assembly, if unplugging the machine does not resolve the issue, then pull console towards the front of washer to hinge it open and remove console.

The machine/motor control assembly is located on the right hand side of the machine that is enclosed in a casing with a clear tube/hose connected to it.
0f82334.jpg

The clear tube/hose is the pressure hose. Check to make sure that everything connected to the machine/motor control assembly is properly attached and fully inserted and the pressure hose has no air leak, kinks, or moisture.

Turn off the water supply to the washer and disconnect the hot and cold water hoses from the rear of the washer then remove the end of the drain hose from where it is installed. Remove the eight screws from the rear panel and remove the panel.

Inspect the pressure hose for evidence of water then replace the hose (part number 353244) if water or moisture is present. Inspect the air dome hose connection port for lint or flashing.

Use a small round device such as a small screwdriver to ensure that there is nothing blocking the air dome outlet on the tub.

Replace the machine/motor control assembly if and only if verified that there are no issues with the air pressure system. Remove all the wire connections to the machine/motor control then remove the screw holding it to the console tray. Two plastic legs on the rear of the machine/motor control assembly are fitted into the console tray. Lift the front of the control assembly to pivot it out from the console tray. Reinstall the new machine/motor control assembly then secure it to the console tray and reconnect the wire harnesses.

NOTE: It is a good idea to take note of the wire harness connections before disconnecting them to prevent messing them up upon reconnection.

The washer will start but will eventually have an "F1" error. This usually happens when water is running into the washer.

My machine wont start ,unless i really have to slam the door real

Either the switch striker/actuator on the door is worn or the door lock/switch assembly on the right side of the door opening is faulty. It is recommended to replace both parts when one is faulty or worn. The door lock/switch assembly is part number 1094190 and costs about $55. The switch striker/actuator is part number 906446 and costs about $5.

Door Lock/Switch Replacement Procedure
  • Unplug the machine.
  • Open the machine's door.
  • Locate the retainer spring of the seal boot retaining hoop at the bottom of the door opening.
  • Stretch the retainer spring apart then remove the retaining hoop.
  • Ease the edge of the seal boot off the lip of the door opening near the door lock/switch assembly. Remove enough of the seal boot to gain access to the door lock/switch assembly behind the front panel of the washer. Be careful not to tear the seal boot. It will cause water to leak out of the machine.
  • Remove the three screws securing the door lock/switch assembly to the front panel.
  • Slightly lift the door lock/switch assembly, pull it away from the front panel then pull it out of the machine.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness and connect the new door lock/switch assembly.
  • Reinstall the new door lock/switch assembly and the seal boot in reverse order of the procedure above.
