Have you tried using a different gadget or computer that has the ability to connect to the internet wirelessly? If all connect without any problem, then you just need to update the device driver of your compaq. You can either update the drivers manually or you can do it automatically (recommended) so that you can get the correct drivers. You can use RadarSync to make it automated.

By the way, if all other gadgets and computers do not connect wirelessly then contact talk talk.

You don't need HP wireless assistant. You can remove it and enable windows zero wireless configuration to manage your wireless signal. Easier, and less complicated. Message me back to get instructions.

You need a Wireless adapter for the Compaq desktop. But with Win98, it will be almost impossible to find one that will work in your Compaq. Everything out there requires at least WIN XP.

Best thing to do is to use an Cat5 Ethernet cable and connect the Desktop to the 2Wire.

You need to provide the model number of your Lynksys first, but more importantly you'll also need a wireless adapter for your new Presario if one isn't already installed on it or you won't be able to wirelessly access the satellite internet network through your wireless router.

I used to have internet wireless connection problems and finally realized that F761usa front wirless swich was changed frequently, even I believe I never touch there.

First check to make sure that you're wireless internet is turned on. Sometimes there is a button to push above the keyboard and others it is an FN key combination. If that does not work then go into Device Manager. Look for your wireless adapter, if there is a yellow! or a Red X, then right click on it and update driver. Finally, in Device manager right click on your wireless adapter and do a driver rollback. This will uninstall the new driver and give back your old one, if your old one was working. Repost after you tryed those three options.

There are some pre-paid available but I would suggest using a wireless card and "grabbing" the internet connection from available wi-fi hot-spots in your city or neighborhood.

In my area 3 of us leave our wireless open for people to use.

Many Libraries have free wireless connections as do Panera Bread, Hotels, and restaurants,(McDonalds, Arby's, etc.)

Definitely a waste of time and money. Bluetooth is REALLY slow, so you might as well go and buy a wireless card if your computer isn't already equipped with one.
