Epson Stylus c42 - how to take the printer apart ?
Do you mean that the print head has come off the guide rails at the back? The following pictures show the upper and lower guides from each side of the print head, which keep the print head on its track. The upper guides are connected to the actual print head assembly; the lower guides are connected to the cartridge carrier assembly. The print head assembly and the cartridge carrier assembly simply clip together.
Now, if you are lucky, all that has happened is that the two assemblies have become unclipped. If so, position the upper guides on the track and then squeeze the two assemblies together so that the lower guides go under the track - you should hear the assemblies click together.
If you are unlucky, it means you have managed to break one or more of the guides. If so, the print head or cartridge carrier, or both is probably scrap, I'm afraid.
I recommend you purchase a copy of the service manual before you attempt this task - they are not expensive. If you require any more assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.
