SOURCE: onkyo tx-sr604 help

You said you tried hooking the HDMI up directly from the TV to each component, and that worked. How is it usually hooked up - through some kind of switch? I'm not completely understanding your setup here.

SOURCE: Powered Or Unpowered Subwoofers For Onkyo TX-8511

Greg- Powered subs are better than non-powered subs (also known as passive subs), anyway I see the TX-8511 has no sub pre-out on the back panel, so you need to decide what sub you will use and run from the receivers left and right speakers output into a subwoofers speaker in from speakers then back out to speakers, look at the back of a subwoofer and you will see like 4 sets of speaker hookups 2 in and 2 out, what this does is takes the low end or bass and drops the signal to the subwoofer then takes the mids and highs out to your left and right speakers, unless your regular left and right stereo speakers have large woofers a sub is the way to go.

easiest fix is to take all hdmi straight to tv. then come out of tv with optical cable to your receiver. that way what ever your watching will automatically be sent to the receiver thru optical. you even will get dolby dig. also you can have audio from your tv when you dont want to use your surround. keeps receiver on one input also.

SOURCE: I have a Onkyo TX-SR604 Receiver. I get no sound

Hello Fixya customer,

Thank you for your question.

A point to keep in mind here is that Zone II will only feed through an analog source. Since the Video 1 input is using the digital (coax, optical) input that that is your most likely issue.

Thank you for using Fixya, and please let me know if I can firther assist.

Can a Onkyo tx sr604 receiver be used as a pre amp?

Yes. You can use the Line Out, or Pre-Amp output into another receiver or amplifier. The receiver or amplifier you use as the amp, will need to have a volume control, as the line output coming from the TX SR604 cannot be varied.

If you have any further questions, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com and contact me there.

Thank you.

Onkyo TX-SR604: Video in from cable box has taken increasingly longer to display a picture.

I would at least disconnect all units from power for a while and then reconnect to allow the units to reboot.

Hi, this is not really a problem. I have an Onkyo TX-SR604 receiver. I had polkaudio speakers RTi8 speakers that are no longer working properly. I am looking for recommendations for new speakers that can...

A receiver with the specs...

* "90 watts minimum continuous power per channel, 8 ohm loads, 2 channels driven from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with a maximum total harmonic distortion of 0.08%"

(*) The only acceptable statement of its power bandwidth in the manual.

... when fed an undistorted audio signal, used properly and not driven abto clipping is not particularly dangerous to any reputable speaker.

Driving any amplifier, even a modest one, into high distortion is more dangerous to any speaker than a high-powered amp pumping pure undistorted power.

Choose any speakers but low efficiency models if you want loud and clean sound.
