Change your SATA cable or IDE cable and change it into a new one bro. because it occurred that your cable have experience an electrical shock when you plug it into its socket while in on line mode.
First open the "Device Manager" to check for any error messages related to the device and click on "Start" and select "Control Panel" .
Now double-click on the "System" icon then click on the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button. A new window appears, and displays whether the device is working properly. If there are any errors, click the "Troubleshoot" button and follow the given onscreen instructions.
Check
the DVD that you are trying to use to and ensure that it is free of
dirt and scratches and the proper format compatible with your drive.

Also check on Dell website that your machine has the minimum requirements to operate the drive.
