I have a Maytag Neptune model # MAH5500BWW. It appears that there is still water inside the tub after completing a wash cycle. I only noticed it as I tried to get a stuck sock from the top of the tub and rotated the tub to get it and a sloshing noise happened. I think it's normal but need to know if this is a problem? Washer completes cycle and clothes are clean. Also, there is a "smell" not yet unbearable but think it smells faintly like mildew...any suggestions?

The noise you're describing is normal - there is water in a sealed balance ring on the inner tub. To get rid of the mildew and smell, leave door open after cycle and use something like Affresh or "Smelly washer" stuff monthly or more often.

I have a Maytag Neptune washer (model MAH5500BWW) that won't completely drain. It goes through the normal cycles but, but water still remains in the tub. Could the pump be out and how can you tell if...

Check the pump out flow of the drain hose, is it a good strong flow or does it seem weak and restricted. If the drain is slow the machine will stop before it is empty. Also if the drain hose is not vented, mounted too high in the air, or has a piece added on making it longer, it may degrade performance.

Maytag Neptune MAH5500BWW burn smell (doesn't appear to be hose)

if you have a maytag neptune washer that ran up until now you got your money's worth, that's the machine that put maytag out of business,if it's smoking and ripping the boot it sounds like the tub bearing is gone and you'll have to replace the washer,if it's load in the spin like marbles are rolling around in it that's the problem, but i wouldn't put a cent into that machine.

Maytag Neptune Front Load Washer Model MAH4000AWW low last spin

two problems here,
your shaft seal is running on its last leg
the sound is unmistakeable and always described the same...
the water issue, you probably have a trickle leak through the cold water valve
the mixing valve is quite an easy repair, but I would have to say with all honesty, it probably time for a new machine
the hub seal is a tub replacment call
2 hrs of labor if hes good
and the tub runs around 500.00 dollars
sory for the bad news

Very loud spin cycle

The link below, courtesy of www.repairclinic.com, shows that the rear bearing comes with the outer tub only and is very pricey! I have been unable to find a service agency that offers just the bearing. Very aggravating. www.maytag.com would be a good place to define your issue.

Tub fills with water

replace water valve in the washer. Serial number is needed to find the correct part number. It's likely 22003834, but call any parts supplier with model/serial numbers to verify.

MAYTAG NEPTUNE FRONT LOAD WASHER MAH5500BWW

Central bearing and seal are damaged. Very expensive repair and very expensive parts. Maytag does not sell bearings separately, they're only available with the outer tub, which is $400-$500; Repair itself is another 2-3 hours of hard work. Do the math...

This is actually normal. It is normal to have water between the wash basket (stainless steel tub) and the outer wash tub (plastic). There shouldn't be a problem unless the water is excessive enough to pool inside the wash tub itself or overflow onto the floor. You will always find a small amount of residual water between the tubs. Don't waste your money on a service call unless you absolutely have to.
