My JAMO DVD player spins but then says no disc for movies only - it seems to have no problems with music cd's . . . any solutions?
The laser is probably on its way out if it is not recognising DVDs. Unfortunately this is not an economical part to replace, and cannot be repaired (cleaning it may help with a CD/DVD cleaner disc but there are no guarantees on reliability).
Depending on the age of the player, and taking into account the fact that Blu-Ray players (with DVD playback support) are becoming cheaper to buy, while repairs to existing older models become more expensive, and with parts not always being available, it might be cheaper and easier to buy a new player whenever you can.
You can submit this unit to a service repair centre in the meantime if you wish and obtain a quote on the likely cost(s) (as well as a second opinion from there) by all means, then you can decide afterwards what course of action you wish to take. Up to you, but I don't believe this unit would be economical to fix or particularly reliable in the long term.
