Hi. First of all, let's talk about why a fuse blows. The short answer is heat from an overloaded electrical circuit, but there's more to it than that. That blown fuse may have saved the rest of your house from burning down.

That said, the fact that the fuse blew and the motor seems to have failed goes hand in hand. I recommend taking the unit apart so that the fan's rotation and the fan's motor can both be checked over.. I suspect that you will have to replace the motor, common on a 20 year olf appliance. J.

Just replaced the blower motor and resistor on 09 nissan sentra. Air came on for a minute making loud noises then blow a fuse and quit working.

You mention loud noises after installing the blower motor, I would check to see if the loud noises came from the fan not being properly installed or loose, possibly something interfering with the rotation. If you find that you probably can replace the fuse and reinstall everything as it should be.

You could just plug the blower motor in without installing it to test it. If it doesn't blow the fuse again, fix the obstruction/alignment and you should be good.

Fuse 8 on 1990 allante is drawing down the battery. will completly drain battery in 2 days

Have you checked BCM input parameter BI61? That is the most common cause of the 2-3 day battery drain. Have you tried pulling fuse #8 under the ash tray for the CPS to see if that stops the drain? You can pull one of the plugs off the AC blower control module to isolate that. If you can not hear the blower motor running with the key off, that probably is not an issue.

The blower for my heater isn't working. How do I fix it?

Yes, there is a fuse. NO, there is no way possible for the fuse to be the CAUSE of your blower not working. Yes, the fuse may be blown, but fuses do not just go around blowing themselves out to make your day miserable. If the fuse is blown, there is a reason for it. Fuses do not cause elecrical circuit failures....electrical circuit failures cause blown fuses.

Nobody can tell you what is causing your blower to not work without first DIAGNOSING your blower motor circuit. There are probably some people that would tell you to just replace the blower motor. However, I would not recommend that because "diagnosis by parts replacement" can be VERY COSTLY. You might get lucky and it will be the blower motor, then maybe not. If not, then you will be out the cost of the blower motor and still have no air.

If you check for power and ground at the blower motor electrical connector and all is well, then it is the blower motor. If you check for power and ground at the blower motor connector and either power or ground is missing, then you will have to trace the rest of the circuits to find out where the failure is.

Heater has stopped working

(1) possible blown fuse.
Note that fuses blow for a reason - seek out the reason, or it will blow its new fuse too.

The main fuse block is located inside the left side of the engine compartment near the battery. There is also an interior fuse panel located just above the left side kick panel.

Interior Fuse Panel
The interior fuses simply unplug from the fuse panel. Use the fuse puller tool provided with your car to remove fuses from the panel. The tool is located on the back of the interior fuse panel cover.

(2) possible blower motor dead. See maintenance manual excerpt below.

(3) possible blower motor relay faulty. Location of Blower relay:
Under hood, drivers side, front engine area, rear of headlight housing; relay mounted on drivers side of radiator shroud.

1990-92 Mazda 626 and MX-6
See Figure below

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the glove box and the underdash cover.
  3. Detach the electrical connectors from the blower unit.
  4. Remove the blower unit-to-fire wall attaching bolts and remove the blower unit assembly.
  5. Remove the blower motor fan-to-motor fastener.
  6. Remove the blower motor-to-unit attaching bolts, then remove the motor.
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
