Pf2 ink cartridege recognition issues

I had a HP that wouldn't print because the Cart. were past a certain date. I finally just went in to the pc and set the date back, and the Cart. worked fine.

We have the same problem with some brands of discs. Fan the discs before you load them and/or try another brand of DVD. We like Datasafe or Datawrite

The next to last cartridge I installed did not print properly. It seemed like all the colors were not there so I weighed it on a postage scale and it weighed less than another new one I had. I called Microboards. They said to send it to them and they replaced it. It may not be that, but weighing it should give some indication if it is.

Defective cartridge, contact Microboards and they'll send you a replacement for free if there is more than 80% of the ink still left.

You may have a disc loading error. To correct this follow these instructions:
Disk Loading error:
If a disc is not loaded correctly, it could cause the out of paper indicator to come on. Press the out of paper button on the interface. The printer will attempt to load another disc. If this does not clear the error, remove the discs from the input bin. Check to see if there are any discs on the belt. Remove any discs that are left on the belt.
Lift the cover and check for any discs on the front part of the printer. Remove any discs found on the belts. Close the cover.
Next, reload the input bin and press the out of paper button. The system will load the next disc and continue printing the remaining discs for that job.

make sure the cartridge reader is no more then 1mm away from the cartridge as it slides past! also check the microswich which is ont he print head slider

you can adjust the dry time. go to printer and faxes and right click select preference, there should be tabs select features then below should be advance features select that and there you can adjust the dry time and amount of ink.

The reason you are having trouble with DVD's and not CD's is that the DVD's are a little thicker or taller than the CD's. The area above the belt system has to be adjusted upward. this adjsutment is not in the manual, and is complicated. I am assuming you are using a PF-2 printer. If you are using a standard HP78 ink cartridge instead of the Microboards cartridge, the unit will only print approx 5 discs before it stops. The microboards cartridges have a security tag under the barcode label that is scanned by a magnetic reader on the left hand part of the unit. If you are careful, you can use a razor blade and remove the label from a microboards cartridge and tape it on the front of a HP ink and save yourself about $25 an ink cartridge...
