Sounds like the Thermister is shorted. The instructions for repair detailed are below. -- SWT

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before attempting any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause injuries to yourself.

The E2 error code indicates an defective thermister circuit. This type of testing will require using a multimeter to check the resistance of the thermister. I have provided you with instructions from the service manual in the image attached below. Be sure to disconnect power to the dryer before attempting repairs.

E2 code no heat

The "E2" error code indicates a shorted thermistor. The thermistor is a component that the control board monitors in order to regulate the operating temperatures. The thermistor is a component that changes its resistance value according to temperature. If the control board does recognize a certain range of resistance of the thermistor, the control board will stop the dryer and display "E2".

The thermistor is normally in the back of the dryer, remove the panel to locate.

Kenmore elite 7.0 cu. ft HE4 GETTING A CODE E 2

The part number for your thermistor is 3976615, and can be obtained directly from Sears for about $30.

It is #42 on this parts list:

You may be able to find it cheaper from other sources.

If you want, I can look for other suppliers, just let me know.

Good luck.
