Refridgerator smells like fish. Have cleaned it thourghly with baking soda and that will last for a few days but then the smell is back. I have several boxes of baking soda in the fridge and the freezer but it dosen't seem to work. I have found a hair line crack on the wall of the freezer and want to know if this could be the problem and if so, can I put some kind of tape or glue on this? The refrigerator was purchased in January of 2009 and I did not get the extended warenty. Can you please help me?

Smell of fish = bacterial growth inside. The baking soda only absorbs remaining smell , it doesn't remove their cause. Since one of the panels has cracked maybe there is slime growing behind it.
You must desinfect you fridge thoroughly - use a lot of bleach , let it dry, wash it strongly to remove every trace of it, then use a lot of ammonia, again wash it thoroughly then plug the crack with hot glue. From now on be very meticulous with the cleaning of the fridge.

My fridge smells fishy. It is perfectly clean and i have not had fish in there.

Bacteria will cause the smell. Make sure it is cold and put a box of baking soda open inside the fridge. It will absorb the odors. They sell baking soda with a mesh side specifically for your fridge.

GE side by side refrigerator smells on the outside!

Mix 1/3 cup of bleach and 2/3 cup of water , and pour down drain tube (rear bottom in freezer section . Too much bleach and the smell of bleach would be circulated by the fan to the room , so be sure to add water .

Bad Smell

you might ry removeing hte rear panel of freezer. gain access to the evapotator area, thats where the fan thatcirculates air is as well, if the smells stillback there washing the inside wont do anything. once fully exposed i would saturate area with an odor nuetralizer . I use odo-ban. and be sure to pour asolution of baking soda and water downt the drain assy (under the evaperator) that will allow the baking soda to reamin in the lower drip tray long after teh eater evaporates. once refrig gets vcold again the smells generrally disapate anyway
