I would say beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most important sailboat hardware has to be the thru-hulls. If a thru-hull, clamp or connecting hose fails, you'll be on the bottom pretty quickly.

If you are looking to sail with comfort, safety or performance you may have to put together not only the wind, the ocean, the sails but your sailboat hardware. From blocks for proper sail trim to furling units for easy sail handling. These are examples of some important salling hardware: Bailers, Blocks, Rigging, Winches, Shackles and rope cluches.

The most important is that stern plug that you must put in EVERY TIME YOU SAIL.
Ahem.

Sorry pie. Sailboats don't have stern plugs.

No need to apologiz, just tell me what yyou call the little black rubber thing that I plug into the hole in my stern every time I put my boat (a sailboat) into the water.

If you're depending on a "little black plug" to keep your boat from sinking, you're much more brave than I am. I would STRONGLY suggest you install a thru-hull. Carry on.

Given that my boat - and the thousands others like it - was designed by a very well known sailboat designer (Gordon Douglass) and it was his idea, I think I will be okay and not modify his design.

And when I do a Google search for "stern plug", a picture of the little black rubber thing shows up...

I'm going to have t-shirts made for my sailing team that say, "Sailboats don't have stern plugs." :)

What size do you wear? I'll save a shirt for you...

So what do you think Steve, could it be that some sailboats actually do have stern plugs?

Well, I'll be. A dinghy that DOES have a stern plug! Nice catch! I stand corrected. I'm going to have all six of the thru-hulls on my boat removed and replaced with plugs. Thanks so much! Regards.

2008 Escape Front two fans only work if I put pressure, by hand, on the connector to each fan. I know there's 14.3v +/- going to each fan when it should be, relays and fuses checked. So do I need to...

check the pins in the connectors and ensure that they are making good tight contact. You may have to move the pins a bit to achieve this . The problem is in the connections if placing pressure on them improves the result.

Is the Riccar 9800 heavy duty enough to sewing a bimini top for sailboat?

I would suggest you go to the link below, called sailrite, they have a online
chat, ask them what sewing machine they would suggest for the fabric
& plastic you want to use, I've been sewing for over 30 years & it's better
to get a sewing machine that will do what you want the first time, rather
than get a sewing machine that says it can but can't deliver.

I have a 1977 chrysler 22 sailboat and I am converting a power boat trailer into a sailboat trailer. I'm trying to figure out how far up I need to put the outer supporting boards on the trailer.

I did same reciently for a Nolex 25. Easiest is to measure and copy someone else's trailer.
Would suggest putting boat on the hard , measure the width between mudguards on your trailer ( you want the boards as close to the guards as you can) halve your number , measure same out from centreline of yacht and up to hull from ground. Transpose measurements to trailer.
Hardest part is guessing the correct balance point ( distance from centre of axles to winch) this is so much easier if you have one to copy.
Try to leave everything adjustable in order to tweak once your boat is on the trailer.
Remember the centre rollers need to carry most of the weight, not the boards.
