I have an older Polycom Videoconferencing machine PVS-1619-Q. I was going to update the software to the most recent version 7.5.4. My questions: Is it possible to update the software (currently 7.2) to 7.5.4. If yes, I have the problem that the update application is never getting beyond "Trying to connect to system" best regards, Sam

You cannot go straight from 7.2 to 7.5.4 you must at least do one in the "Middle" first, you can go to 7.4.0 ? and then to 7.5.*, as there was an update later on that depended on another update prior, I think that those upgrade paths should straddle the upgrade paths.
Also remember to install as administrator too.
Usually when they wouldn't connect it was because they, it, were faulty, or the driver was.

Online I only found updates for 7.5.4 and 7.5.2. How do I get a 7.4 Updater? How do I know whether I have a faulty unit?

Windows installer error 1619.

From older Windows versions I know this is can be a problem with the access rights in the installer folder. If you have the hard disk space, consider copying the installer files to a hard disk location and run it from there.

Also make sure you use a user with admin rights to install.

Not sure if all this still holds true for Windows 7.

I solved this issue with our Polycom by following the following instructions via the link below.

Upgrade phones with following software:
CVM: Version 1.61
All SoundStation2Ws with software CVM version 1.61 are susceptible to this failure mechanism and must be updated. To upgrade the software, please download theSoundStation2W Software Upgrade application and follow the detailed Software Upgrade Instructions located on the SoundStation2W support page. This issue only impacts the CVM version number listed above.

Requirements:

1. USB cable for the Polycom wireless unit
2. Windows XP machine
3. Download the instructions
4. Download the Firmware Update

Need advice on installing a Polycom 'Polyscan' video teleconferencing system

Hi,

Some ideas based on your post/description:

It is very possible that the management/support software necessary to run your videoconferencing system resides or is installed in the PC based router that got burned. When you replaced the router with a NetGear, you simply provided an interconnection/distribution/forwarding/sharing of your Internet access to the different PCs of your firm but nothing to replace the server/management software for the Polyscan System. You have replaced only half of the PC based router - the router only, hence you have Internet acces but no video conferencing which is software managed which was installed in the PC half. Additionally, Polycom uses online Product Activation which might be necessary for your system to start working again.

Depending on the model of the Polyscan System that you have, it is also possible that you simply have to reconfigure the network settings of your Polyscan' System to match the new IP address of the Netgear (which might be very different from what the burned PC based router was using before). I understand that Polycom have several models (or series as they term it - PVX, TPX, RPX, VSX, HDX, and others). Would you pls post back with the series/model number that you are using?

Have you tried discussing your concern with Polycom Support? They might be in a better position to address this.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back with the Polycom system model that you are using.

Good luck and kind regards.
