I do not get spark, or equal spark, to all burners with each control knob. With one or two control knobs, all 4 burners spark well. With one or two control knobs, get weak or no spark to 2 or 3 burners. How do I troubleshoot and repair?

(1) Get Naval Jelly (Rust dissolver) and apply on the igniter and than see if everything is fine.
(2) Check the connections from the knob to the burner. Probably have a leak. Replace the wire from the knob to the burner.

Yes, thats okay when you turn the knob voltage gets sent to the spark module, Then the module sparks all the burner igniter. And frame ignition only happens on the single burner of the knob you turned that sends gas to the burner associated with that knob.

There are three parts to the ignition system typically.

The ignitor that is either in the burner or outside the burner.

The spark ignitor switch that is located on the burner control. (( one for each control ))

The spark modual. the modual creates the hi-voltage spark.

If the burner that does not ignight with its control does not spark but does spark with one of the other controls then the spark ignitor control switch is bad.
You can test it with one of the other burner control knobs. (( just try a working burnder and when it clicks look at the bad burners ignitor and look for the spark.))

If the bad burner that wont ignight does not spark then either your modual is bas or the ignitor is shorting out.

If you see any little spark but it does not spark from point A to Point B like the other burners then your ignitor is shorting and should be replaced.

If your ignitor is ceramic and it is cracked, then it should be replaced.

It works now.After two days of trying, it now works like it should. I'm thinking something needed to dry.

Replace the spark switch module on the bad burner.

Thanks for using FixYa. There are a few things to check for. Make sure the electrode (the small metal piece that the spark comes off from) is clean and the holes in the burner are clean, use a pin or paper clip to clean out the burner holes and not a tooth pick as these can break off and make things worse. Example of a burner. The next thing to check for are the ignition switches under the surface control knobs, the switches can twist and break and keep the spark module on and the spark keeps "clicking" even when the burner is light. If every thing looks good, you may have a bad spark module, replace it.
The switches or the range control knobs may have got wet and are completing the circuit to the spark module thus causing it to continuously click or fire off sparks continuously. Use your hair/blow dryer and blow some hot air around the spark module area.

it is strange that you have no gas and no spark! if you held a match to the burner and turned the burner valve on it would lite di spite a failed ignitor,but for it not to lite, the burner valve[its what the knob attaches too] would have to be blocked[thats rare]or ........i got it .....the knob is broken.thats the only thing the burner valve and the spark ignitor have in common.try a knob from another burner................again.you have spark,because others are working.spark on troubled burner would work if valve blocked at orifice outlet,and if spark failed you would still get gas they work independent of each other,[but in unison].thats why im thinking knob.its the item that works both .when you turn the knob it opens the gas valve and as the gas valve rotates by turning the knob it activates or turns the spark switch so it closes the curcit allowing the electricty to the spark moduel.hey i hope that helps a little. your problem is most likely the spark switch, but it could be you spark module but that is highly unlikely

you will need to contact your certified local service tech.you might have a distributor problem at yor ignitor box.if the problem is not with your ignitors.
