My Krups Fresh Aroma 625 coffee maker makes all the sounds like it is brewing, however no water moves into the basket and then on to the carafe. What can I do to fix the problem?

the coffe maker might be clogged up so here' what to do:
Look through the clear plastic panel on the side of the coffee maker's water tank to make sure that it has water in it.
Clean your Sunbeam coffee maker, You can wash the removable filter basket and carafe in hot, soapy water and pour 4 cups of white vinegar into the water reservoir of your coffee maker. Start the brewing cycle with no coffee grounds to allow the vinegar to clean the inside of the coffee maker. Rinse away the vinegar by running the brewing cycle twice with only clean, fresh water.

Check the removable filter basket to see if the filter has collapsed if you find coffee grounds in your brewed coffee. If the paper filters collapse often you can wet them before you place them inside the filter basket so that they will stick to the basket and stay in place. or check this link because it might need a new hose. I have the same problem. It's now five months since you asked this question and you've not gotten a response. It doesn't look good for us. I removed that part of the filter basket. Maybe we don't need it. I'm going to try making coffee without it if we don't get an answer today.
The two most common reasons for overflow or underflow have to do with the carafe lid and the filter basket - they key to smooth flow with this coffee maker is making sure the filter basket and carafe lid are making the proper contact with each other so that the center knob on the carafe lid pushes slightly up on the filter basket spring. Make sure the carafe lid is completely closed. Make sure the filter basket is pushed all the way down. Make sure you are not using the gold tone filter and a paper filter at the same time. For some reason, I get better results when the handle of the carafe is resting against the right side wall. If everything is in place, I would suspect a problem with either the filter basket being clogged or some problem with the carafe lid - call Cuisinart as they should be able to order these parts for you.
There might be some residue in the machine, you can try using some ScaleKleen which is activated citric acid, use a very small amount diluted in water(about 1/4 teaspoon). Run brew cycle with solution, after cycle complete, rinse reservoir, and run about 4 cycles with fresh water. This will clean out your machine.
The Coffee Maker can be descaled using
a packaged descaling agent or vinegar.
Always mix the descaling solution using
cool water.
• When using a descaling agent, follow
the directions on the package for the
recommended amounts of descaling
agent and water to use.
• When using vinegar, fill the carafe with
a solution consisting of 1⁄2 vinegar and
1⁄2 water.
Descaling Steps:
1. Before descaling, always remove the
water filter (see “Installing the Ion-
Exchange Water Filter” on page 7) and
make sure the brew basket contains
no coffee or coffee filters.
2. Run the Coffee Maker through a
complete brewing cycle using a full
carafe of the descaling solution.
3. If the cleaning needed indicator lights
after the brewing cycle is complete,
repeat Step 2 using fresh descaling
solution. Keep repeating Step 2 until
the cleaning needed indicator no
longer lights after brewing.
4. Rinse the Coffee Maker by running
it through two brewing cycles using a
full carafe of fresh, cool water
each time.
5. Wash the brew basket in hot, soapy
water and rinse with hot water. This
part can also be washed in the upper
rack of the dishwasher.
6. Reinstall or replace the water filter.
Replace the filter every three months
under normal usage, or more often
with heavy use.
Your coffee maker likely has the option where you can remove the carafe while it is brewing so that you can serve yourself in the middle of the brew. When you pull out the carafe in the middle of the brew, a small lever closes off the drip at the end of the basket (to keep the coffee from flowing onto the empty space where the carafe was on onto the burner).
Then when you replace the carafe, the lip of the carafe pushes against that lever and re-opens the valve so that the brew can now drip into the replaced carafe. Simple.
In your case, it appears that when you place the carafe onto the burner plate, it is not engaging that lever and opening up the valve; hence the valve stays closed and the brew fills over the basket and makes a mess, right?
So do this, pull out the carafe and look up where the pointed end of the basket drips into the carafe. You should see a lever, or plate that the carafe top lip hits when the carafe is placed into the burner plate. Once you find that lever, or plate, give it a push (like the carafe would) and see if it moves. if it does not, then that's your problem. It is stuck closed and won't allow the brew to exit the basket into the carafe. Clean it thoroughly if it is stuck and then see if works.
First, are you certain that the coffee basket is clean? If the coffee basket has a valve on the bottom that allows you to remove the carafe to pour a cup of coffee, make sure the valve is clean. Being dirty would cause it to trickle coffee slowly into the carafe, and will hold coffee in the basket too long.
2nd, you may need to flush the water heating system as they can become corroded with precipitated solids from the water. To do this, mix 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water in the carafe. Pour into the coffee maker and tell it to make coffee. Do this a couple of times, using a fresh mix of vinegar and water each time. Pour the used mixture down the drain. When you feel it is clean, follow it up with a fresh pot of water. Then wash and rinse the carafe.
The basket for the coffee is located about the carafe (the round part on the front of the unit). It swings open from the right side. You should see a small ridged tab to pull toward you to open it up. Once open it will swing to the left. Put in a cone type #4 filter and your coffee, add water and you are ready to go!
