Are you having any problems moving the needle bar with the hand wheel? Make sure that the presser foot is up and the needle bar is fully up. Then redo the top threading for the machine. Try unplugging the machine and blowing any loose debris out of the needle bar area. (I'd suggest compressed (canned) air or equivalent to minimize excess moisture in the electronics.) Also check if the machine gives the same message with the presser foot and needle down on restart.
If the problem persists, then the issue is likely to be a faulty control board. I don't know if any sewing machine repair technicians still have spare boards. They aren't on the in stock parts at two vendors that I know.
The needle bar as the long vertical bar that the needle is attached to. Hand rotate the handwheel until the needle is at its highest position before it begins to descend.
Try lowering the pressure foot and the needle and then raise them
again and then restart the machine, and if that doesn't clear the
error message then it's time to service the machine.
If the comment already posted did not answer your question, here is another thing to check. If the screw that attaches the foot and ankle to the presser foot bar is tight, and the foot can still be moved, it is likely that the presser foot bar has become loose within the lifting mechanism. You could save yourself some trouble by taking your machine to a sewing machine repair shop, but if you would rather avoid that expense, do the following. Remove the needle bar and take up mechanism cover on the left side of the machine. This is held on by a single phillips head screw on the back side of the machine, which, with the back of the machine facing you, should be on the top right side of the machine. Once this cover is removed you will be able to see two vertical metal shafts, one is attached to your needle clamp and needle, and should be in the front. The other is the presser foot bar, and will be behind the needle bar. There should be a small allen screw about halfway up that shaft that tightens onto the bar. With the presser foot properly positioned on the needle plate, tighten this allen screw. Don't tighten the screw too tightly, as this can damage the presser bar, just make sure it's nice and snug. Make sure the presser foot raises and lowers properly, and re-attach the needle bar cover.
Hope this helps.
it sounds like it's out of time--here's how to fix it to adjust the pressure on the presser bar and in turn the foot, locate the thumb screw at the top of the machine
by rotating the thumb screw clockwise, you will increase the pressure, a counter clockwise turn will decrease the pressure
the correct height of the pressure foot from the needle plate is 7mm. to adjust this clearence loosen the screw & adjust the pressure bar through the guide secure the screw firmly when the correct adjustment is obtained
the distance between the presser bar lifting arm & the presser bar guide should be 0.5mm ..( be sure the needle bar does not rotate left or right during the adjustment process. the needle must be center of the presser foot & needle plate hole,, if this is not centered re-adjust to the center of both needle foot & needle plate hole.
To Attach the Zipper Foot 1. Loosen the large screw at the left of the presser bar and remove presser foot (You do not need to remove the screw). 2. Hook the prongs of the Zipper Foot around the presser bar from the back, and tighten the presser-bar screw. 3. If the raised edge (zipper or cording) is to the right of the needle, adjust the Zipper Foot by loosening the thumb screw at the back of the foot and sliding foot to the left of the needle. If the raised edge is to the left, slide foot to right. 4. With presser foot down, check its position by lowering needle into side notch, making sure it just clears the foot. 5. Tighten thumb screw to lock foot into position. When raised edge is placed to right -- adjust foot to left of needle. When raised edge is placed to left -- adjust foot to right of needle.
First, raise the presser bar, remove the presser foot, the presser foot holder and screw.
Turn the handwheel to bring the needle to its highest position.
Place the darning foot on the presser bar and make sure that the metal bar of the darning foot is above the needle clamp and put the screw back on and tighten.
As the needle bar raises and lowers, the foot will hop up and down slightly.
Make sure that you always lower the presser bar when using this foot. Lower the feed dogs also if your machine has this feature.
Turn power switch to "0"
raise the needle to highest position by turning the wheel toward you(counterclockwise) and raise the presser foot lever
release the foot by raising the lever located at the back of the presser foot assembly
place a different presser foot on the needle plate so that the bar on the presser foot is in line with the slot on the shank
lower the presser foot lever and fix the presser foot onto the shank. If the p foot is in the correct location the bar will snap in you should hear a click or snapping sound let me know if this helped thanks! amy
